I founded our company as a manufacturer of sports shoes in Kobe,
in 1949, with the aim of developing a strong generation of youth through sporting activities.
At the beginning of the second century BC, a Roman lampoonist named Juvenalis coined a famous phrase,
which translates as "If you pray to God, you should pray for a sound mind in a sound body."
In the original phrase, the word used for "mind" was "Mens." However, we decided to replace this with "Anima," as it promotes a more active nuance for mind, and took the acronymic form of this phrase as our company name ASICS ("Anima Sana in Corpore Sano") |

Sporting pursuits are no longer separable from our everyday life. They are deeply connected to society and culture, and now there is even a phrase to exemplify this, "sports culture." It is our great pleasure that sports are now a universal form of entertainment, and one of the keys to peace around the world. At present, health consciousness among the public has shown unprecedented growth, along with the trend toward an increase in leisure time. We will strive to play an important role in the health and happiness of people all over the world, with sport as our core interest. |
