Shoe Care

Shoe Care

Surface dirt such as mud and grit can be cleaned off with an old toothbrush or nail brush, a little warm water and a gentle anti-grease soap. This should take care of the dirt, and is fine to do once in a while.

Don't wash your shoes in a washing machine. Remove the sock-liner or insole and wash it separately. This will help make the inside of your shoe fresher. Laces can be washed or replaced.
Don't place them near a heating device such as a heater or radiator. Direct heat will alter the shape of the shoe. Open out the shoe and then stuff the inside with kitchen paper or newspaper. The paper will absorb the dampness inside the shoe. A shoe takes about twelve hours to dry out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trail shoes so far I bought these shoes about a month ago. Ran the Troodos Ultra in them and also my usual trail routes. They are what I expected. I was amazed o read in a past review that they are not waterproof. When I crossed some streams during the water course of the Troodos Ultra, my feet remained dry which really impressed me. Best trail shoe out there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not as good as price suggests Sole was great and gave really good grip, even in mud. Right heel lifted despite adjusting laces and I am hoping I will resolve that with time. Otherwise fit was nice and these did feel more like trainers on trail soles than previous trail shoes. My gripe is with the additional cost of the plasma guard effect. I could not discern that it offered It offered anything. No more water repellent than my Nimbus 17 road pair, thick mud sticks like to any other shoe, also water tended not to distributed out so it felt like running in a pair of sponges. Guy in shop said they were " waterproof". They are not and I thought the plasma guard was a bit "emperors new clothes". I should have spent £62 less and bought the next model down. The lace tuck away in the tongue is a good idea and will stop laces snagging on brambles etc. I was running on the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what you'd expect for the price! I bought these earlier this year and started trail running in them in May. They were doing well but I first found the loop-hole lace mechanism to cause a pain on my medial arch. Changing the lacing method helped. During the latter part of running the Eiger Ultra Trail E101 I felt blistering around my heels. I felt for debris but there was nothing. Inspecting the shoe, it was the fabric which disintegrated that was causing the blistering. Wouldn't expect that from this price shoe, especially 500km into them. They still have loads more life in the rest of the shoe. Pity I have to bin them now. I won't be purchasing another pair!
