Background

Tervel Dlagnev was born on November 19, 1985 in Sofia, Bulgaria to parents Ivaylo and Ingrena Dlagnev. He moved from Bulgaria to the United States when he was 4 years old. He started wrestling his sophomore year of high school to lose weight and went on to earn third and fourth place finishes at the Texas State Championships.

Tervel attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he was a 2-time NCAA Division II National Champion. In 2008, he helped make school history by leading UNK to a Division II national team title.

Tervel joined the USA National Team in 2009 and brought home bronze at the World Championships. He continues to wrestle internationally and is currently ranked no.1 at 125 KG.

Tervel currently resides in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Kirsten, and their son, Isaiah. They have another baby on the way.
