The standard (medium) width for women is B, while the standard width for men is D. Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

When is additional width needed?
Visible stretching or bulging on the outsides of forefoot materials is a good indicator that additional width may be needed. These sizes are available in many of our Running and Training shoes. In some cases, men can wear women’s styles to achieve a narrow fit and women can wear men’s to get a wide. If this is needed, please use the references above to determine comparable size lengths. Please note that the differences of width between narrow, standard, wide, and extra wide are usually only a couple millimeters and are proportional to the size of the shoe. Most additional width will be found in the forefoot.

Pronation is how a runner's foot rolls medially between footfall and toe-off. Underpronation is when the foot rolls outwards, overpronation is when it rolls inwards, and a neutral pattern is when little rolling occurs.

Matching a shoe's properties with the runner's running style will increase comfort, running efficiency, and contribute to decreasing the risk of injury.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from loved them until they disintegrated On my second pair of Kayano 22's in a year. Both pairs have worn out completely in the top par of the heel cushion. Took to two running stores and both thought this was excessive for such short term use. Very disappointed. Not sure if a third pair will be in my future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Shoe I have ever purchased. I am a devote Asics wearer, specifically Kayanos. Super comfortable and has met all my running needs. I run often and replace my shoes a couple times a year (As recommended by most avid runners: 300-500 miles per pair of shoes). Most of the previous comments on here seem confusing to me... I wear a 7.5/8 for regular shoes and typically buy a US 9 in running shoes. I have had no issues and my feet feel great after long runs in these shoes. I agree with one comment, little to no break-in needed. I wouldn't start out on a 5 mile run in these but can see a week of a couple 2 or 3 mile runs before breaking into a 7 miler. love the shoe, can't wait for my next pair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shoe I love my new asics shoes! There was no break-in needed. I was able to wear them for my 4 mile daily walks straight out of the box.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Toe box is just too tight, even in wide I love the cushioning and bottom structure of these so much, but it's true that the toe box is too tight and shallow. I got the 7.5D in these originally (I'm usually regular width). If I hadn't run in awhile the toes felt okay at first, but after being on my feet my toes would be screaming to get out -- hitting the top and sides of the upper. On my next pair, I tried Brooks Adrenaline, but missed the Kayano's structure and cushion so I decided to try these out again, but half size up, in 8D. My toes are finally happy, so I'm happy, but at the same time I'm always reminded that the shoes are too long -- my heel slips and when I toe off, the shoe bends ahead of my toes. I'll put up with floppiness for this round, but I'll be looking elsewhere for the next pair (or hoping that they fix the toe box!). I had previously done the Kayano when they were at version 19 and loved those.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I have been a loyal Kayano shoe lover for years. This is my latest pair worn just for my workouts. Today the sole fell off while working out. I am so bummed! I wish I read the reviews because it seems to be a problem with this shoe. I need to replace this pair and may try another brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wow - you need elf toes to wear these I have always loved my asics, but something has happened with the design on these. I ordered a pair and the toe box was so tight that my toes lost circulation. I have pretty standard width, and if I had gone to a wide width, my heel would have slipped. not sure what's going on, or whose foot these shoes fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kayano These shoes are very comfortable, even for my broken down feet. They support the arch where needed but also have great cushioning. I've had them before and will continue to buy them. I bought 2 pairs.
