Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. ASICS GT-1000 5 is made for neutral, over.
  • OVER
How Your Foot Contacts the Ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Back to origins! Been running this model for years. Would normally have given them a 5 star rating but the GT-1000 4 seemed to be different. Hopefully the 5 gets back to basics. We will see. So far so good but have only put about 3 miles on them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I ordered Would order again and recommend to anyone. Have had asics shoes before and really put them through abuse. They are good to stand in for 10 to 12 hours a day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfortable shoe there was no break in period, laced and walking 10K a day from day 1

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Break-In Required, Good Shoe! The sizing is right, but pinky toes felt crammed for the first 3 days. (I train 2hrs. every day.) Good shoe for th gym and circuit training. May not be a good shoe for running; the shoe slips on the foot a bit, even when worn in the correct size and snug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoes! I bought this shoes for my husband more than a week ago and he can't stop talking about how comfortable they are. He even suggested to buy a pair for myself (which I'm considering). He loves that he can wear them for work, to exercise, pretty much wear them all day and they don't hurt his feet like other shoes. He loves his new shoes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoes I really appreciate the kind of support and cushion you get from the GT 1000 running shoes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good shoe bad fit Liked the shoe but was a bad fit. Probably should have went a half size bigger or ordered the wide size. I have had asics in the past but this wasn't the fit I was used too

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wide Toebox The GT-1000's seem to be about the only shoes I can wear comfortably all day. Good support, excellent cushion, but especially the wide toebox are essential for my feet. Every other brand/product is either too narrow and squishes my toes or is too wide all over the rest of my foot. Please don't stop making them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Great Quality I purchased this shoe a month ago and the back lining by my Achilles Tendon has a hole in it. The past 2-3 pairs of Asics have got holes in the same spot. I don't workout in them, I only run in them. Unfortunately this has happened multiple times. This time it happened very quickly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I've worn Asics for years now, but this pair I'm returning. When I bend my foot, the stiff material below the laces and above the toe cap digs Into the top of my toes. Not sure what I will order in place of these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable Runner The GT-1000 has proven to be a great running shoe for runners who overpronate. My feet are held in-place with no discomfort. I only wish the GT-1000 5 had more reflective surfaces for night running.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great comfort I bought this shoes last october and so far I'm very impressed. I average about 15-20 miles a week and I have not have any issues with these shoes. I even run on them even when there is a little bit of snow outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great update. I bought the last version of this shoe and really liked it. In fact, I bought 2 pairs. I like the update mainly because this shoe is better looking than the last version. It has a great shape to it and I like that Asics still makes all, or nearly all black shoes. This version is a little less bulky and is noticeably lighter, two big pluses. This is a well balanced running shoe that has a soft ride without going too soft like the Kayano or the Nimbus. Those are great shoes too but these suit me better and they're cheaper.. The toe box is perfect for my average foot shape, maybe a bit roomier than last year's. I am always either a 10 or a 10.5 in shoes, I am a 10 in these, perfect fit so don't size up too much. The upper in not restrictive at all and the shoe has decent flexibility.
