5 running tips for beginners.

01 begin with the run/walk method.

Ease your body into a new running routine by alternating between a few minutes of jogging and a few minutes walking. After several weeks you’ll find yourself running continuously.

02 think time, not distance.

Start with a time goal – 10 minutes for example – and build it up slowly. This stops you from pushing your body to reach a distance you’re not ready for yet.

03 rest.

It’s important to let your muscles recover post-run. Resting adequately and fueling your body with the right foods is key to avoiding running injuries.

04 join a running club.

Joining a group is a great motivator. Search for a local running club for beginners, or join a club for runners of all abilities. Most coaches will happily share tips to help you run safely, too.

05 run in the right shoes.
