The standard (medium) width for women is B, while the standard width for men is D. Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

When is additional width needed?
Visible stretching or bulging on the outsides of forefoot materials is a good indicator that additional width may be needed. These sizes are available in many of our Running and Training shoes. In some cases, men can wear women’s styles to achieve a narrow fit and women can wear men’s to get a wide. If this is needed, please use the references above to determine comparable size lengths. Please note that the differences of width between narrow, standard, wide, and extra wide are usually only a couple millimeters and are proportional to the size of the shoe. Most additional width will be found in the forefoot.

Push Off
Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
Considered Injuries

Foot Type
Low arches or flat feet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Within few days of wearing my new Metarun, bottom of soles were peeling or unglued from both sides. Very disappointed and unhappy with ASICS, this is third time ordering via online, and that’s the last time I’ll do business with ASICS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BOSS of Running Shoes! So rare and unexpected that a product can actually inspire a person to do something he or she doesn’t want to. But the Metarun feels so luxuriously cushioned and cloud-light that even a perpetually lazy person like me feels compelled to not just walk fast...but RUN! Stability is SUPERB, helped by the carbon fiber piece unique to this model, and saves my aging knees. Traction yields enormous grip and feels very sure-footed. In sum, EPIC running shoes worthy of ASICS’s flagship status. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money? While the fit and finish is very similar to the Kayano 24, this is not the same shoe! With a slightly wider toe box, lighter, and both firmer and more responsive, the Metarun is, for my feet, a slightly more comfortable shoe. Is the difference worth the eighty or so more dollars this shoe costs? That's hard to answer. For those with persistent planter or other feet problems, I would say yes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent shoe, however parts of sole delaminate Overall, great shoe and perfect for those who do large kilometres, however the sole has delaminated on both feet (photo attached). I have glued them back on a few times yet this should not happen for a $300+ shoe. I have to continually check to see if they need to be reattached. The issue - from my non-engineering point of view - is that the grey parts supporting the base of the foot are affixed individually. I own Kayano 24s and I have not had this problem (I alternate between pairs daily) as the sole pad is a single unit. As some background, I have owned 30+pairs of Asics for casual and competitive purposes and have never had this problem. I will continue to use Asics but would steer away from Metaruns for now. I will try and get a replacement pair from my retailer despite the fact I no longer have a receipt (I purchased them six months ago).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Awesome Shoe but Do Not Last I have had 4 pairs of the Metarun's, they are a fabulous shoe, extremely comfortable ,great fit and support. With previous shoes on long runs of 15-30km have had toenails cut into other toes and rubbing issues, but with the Metarun's even from the first wear have never had any of these problems and do not even need to break them in. WOW! I Love this shoe. The only problem they have apart from the high price is there durability, they DO NOT LAST. I have always been an Asics fan and have had many pairs of Kayano's, I run about 10-12km a day and always got around 9 months or more wear out of them but with the Metarun's i can only get about 4 to 5 months out of them. Problems include soles delaminating (a big problem and can not glue back on), wearing holes in the inner linings and the main problem is, about 50mm of the upper shoe tearing away from the sole near the instep and allowing debris into the shoe. Quite disappointing with a shoe of this calibre. Another small issue with this shoe is that if the FlyteFoam begins to tear, it cannot be stoped and you can end up losing a big piece of the sole. I returned the first pair to Asics and they happily refunded them. I asked them if they had experienced this problem before and they said that they had not. However, these failures have happened to all 3 Black/Gold pairs and has just begun to fail on my Silver/Grey pair. I have also purchased a 5th pair for my son. Would definitely recommend this shoe. If these issues can be addressed the Metarun would be a real World-Beater. Asics can you please fix these problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from METARUN DELIVERS Just starting running again after finishing a marathon a few weeks ago. I have been battling plantar fasciitis for 5 months as well. I have been running pain free in these shoes and recovering nicely since my last marathon. Incredibly lightweight with ample support and cushioning. But what really surprised me is how flexible these shoes are. Also have excellent grip on pavement and asphalt. Worth everypenny-good job Asics!
