The GEL-KAYANO 29 shoe creates a stable running experience and a more responsive feel underfoot.Featuring a low-profile external heel counter, this piece comfortably cradles your foot with advanced rearfoot support.
We also updated the midsole with FF BLAST PLUS cushioning. This helps keep the shoe lightweight while creating a more energized rebound in each step.
A LITETRUSS stability feature is placed on the midsole’s inside angle. It’s designed to help keep your foot from rolling too far inward during your stride.

Love the Gel Katana!
I can't help myself, if something works for me, it works, I, pretty dedicated. I have been wearing the Gel-Kayano for years. Not sure what my first version was.
It took a while to get used to the 28/29 that had the built in sock by the shoe laces, but I think they were my favorite version. I like the 29's now that I've had them for about 500 miles.
My only beef with Asics is their loyalty program, it's for the most part nonexistent. Come-on Asics brass!!

I love the feeling of the GEL-KAYANO series
I love the feeling of the GEL-KAYANO series. This is my 9th model from this product line. They are truly comfortable and fit my arches perfectly. The GEL-KAYANO 29 does fit a little tighter in the toe than previous models, but didn't prevent me from purchasing 3 pairs for this season.

Great shoe for avoiding ankle injury
Excellent running shoe that works for me, with a long history of Achilles tendinopathy - this is my second pair of the same model for that reason

Disappointed
I was disappointed after receiving my shoes. I ordered the exact same size and model number I already have and the shoes I received are not the same. They are tighter in the toe area and don't have the same markings.

The toe box is wide fitting and the support cushioning is excellent so that the shoes nearly take you for a run !
