Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The MetaRun is made for Overpronation.

  • Foot Type

    Low arches or flat feet
  • Push Off

Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Consider your foot type I have always used Asics trainers and had Cumulus for many years. I have walked first quite few miles with the Metarun to get used to them. However after my first few runs, I had experienced shin splints and for those who know what they are.. you can understand how that can be both painful and annoying. Nothing else has changed in my routine apart from the running shoes... They are marketed on the Asics website as neutral/stability but I would not recommend them unless you need stability shoes. They might be excellent but I would have expected from Asics a more clear recommendation since for that price you do not want to make a mistake.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good - But be warned I purchased a pair of these trainers a few months back. After a few times taking them out, I noticed that a part of the trainer had started to come off. I immediately contacted Asics to explain the situation. To be fair to the customer service team, they responded and offered to provide me with a new pair in return for me sending them the originals back. Less than 2 weeks later, the same problem again. For this reason, I am obviously not very pleased, given that they cost £200 at the time of writing. Pros - These ARE super comfy They are extremely light They do look good! They fit well. They feel like a real sports trainer. Customer service Cons The trainers have twice had the same problem. Part of the bottom has almost completely come off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought these when they first came out! I bought these when they were first released, had to wait but when I got them, wow. Super lightweight, carbon fibre, memory foam. Initially they felt great over short distances. Longer runs showed that for me they were less comfortable as a forefoot runner. What really disappointed was the degredation at the inner achilles area where the memory foam is. It has broken down markedly and worn away and I barely use them for running. For a £200 pair of shoes I expected more and I've run in Asics since the original Kayano with no breakdowns. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Year's resolution - run away from this shoe! I bought this shoe as it was recommended by the Asics shop assistant as the best running shoe they had. I had it for 8 months and the soles were coming away and it developed tears on the top of the shoe. As it was over 6 months Asics refused to do anything about it. Glad I'm not the only one who reported this sole related problem, it seems common, unlike what Asics customer service said. There are better value trainers at a lower price, I would not recommend this one until they resolve the inherent issues with the 'best materials' as they advertise..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Running Trainer This is the second pair of Metarun trainers that I have purchased. I run 11 miles every other day and can confidently confirm that these trainers are pure quality. My latest pair of trainers make me realise just how much 'wear and tear' my old pair went through. The new trainers fit perfectly, they offer great support to my feet and are 100% comfortable. Do they make my 11 mile run easier, well that is a mind set decision, and my mind says Yes, no blisters, no aches, no pains, Yes, they certainly make me feel better! My only criticism is the £210 price tag, but I was not prepared to compromise in order to save a few pounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highest Quality Metarun trainers are the highest quality trainers i own. The care and quality materials Asics have used to produce these shoes is nothing short of astonishing. The comfort is incredible you can really feel the memory foam the instant you put them on and as you run it stays comfortable no matter how hard you push them. They feel incredibly lightweight super comfortable and let your feet breathe the forefoot and rear foot X gel just soak up the impact shock and has really helped protect my knees. I absolutely love these shoes and will be investing in another pair. You pay extra for the quality and they are worth every penny.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great shoe, terrible build quality First the pros - these shoes are super comfortable to run in, zero blisters and fit like a dream. Cons - The panels on the sole are glued on and within a month the first panel fell off. Given I only use them around 3 times a week for general gym work and treadmill this just isn’t acceptable given the price. I used to own a pair of gel noosa’s with one piece soles that lasted me over 18months of very high intensity gym work. After two months I now have three panels missing and two more peeling off so there’s no way I can now use them outdoors as a stone would puncture the foam that’s now exposed. To sum up, these are probably excellent for road running but are completely unfit for use in the gym. 100% would not recommend, especially given they’re ASICS most expensive shoe. Save your money and buy the cheaper shoes with one-piece soles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic pair of shoes Although I’ve returned this shoe due to fit (I’m somewhere between a 9.5 and 10 annoyingly), I feel like this is such a well made shoe, it has a fantastic feeling upper and features some great tech. I’m currently wearing the nimbus 20 platinum which I feel fits my feet better but if they ever tweak the sizing on this model I’d love to give it another go. I also found the metarun to be somewhat narrower than the nimbus FYI in addition to it fitting 0.5 size bigger (uk9.5 equates roughly to uk10 in nimbus). I’ve knocked one star off because I do feel they are not competitively priced and that’s generally across the board with Asics.
