DS Trainer has been one of the most successfull model for Asics for many years. The innovation continues with the DS Trainer 25. Following the improvement introduced with the DS Trainer 24, but with slightly more response like the 23. Indeed a great mix of the best features to run even faster.

The DS Trainer 25 has always been a very popular shoe for fast run, intervals or races, not only for top athletes, but also for less experienced runner. It combines light weight with great comfort and also some cushioning, making it ideal for different types of training sessions or races. For those faster and more experienced it might be the perfect shoe for intervals, but also for marathon (or half-marathon), while for those who needs more cushioning for the longer run, it is a perfect choice for short races or interval training.

For many years this model has been one of my favourite, not only for speed work but also for moderate long run. I have enjoyed the comfort, the lightness and the grip! Yes you heard right: "the grip", the sole has a much more aggressive grip than the majority of the shoes on the market, making it perfect for running on tracks, gravel and hard packet paths.

Technical details

Compared to the DS Trainer 24 this version has slightly more space in the upper/midfoot, but still keeping the running sensibility and the comfort.
It is 10 gr heavier than the previous version (255g for men) due to the new composition of the FlyteFoam. This make the cushioning even better for longer run, although the shoe is very responsive and feel even faster than the 24.
The response on the ground actually reminds me of the DS Trainer 23, but with an all new technology. It means that we have a fast shoe with great response that still allow you to run longer distance or complete many training sessions without any problem, thanks also to the rearfoot gel.
The fit is normal and the drop is 8mm, as the previous versions.

The GEL-DS TRAINER™ 25 running shoe from ASICS is an excellent choice for runners who want to go fast. The shoe helps you achieve those running goals with a great fit around the midfoot and lightweight FLYTEFOAM™ technology ...

I have tested the DS Trainer 25 at tracks intervals, moderate long run, and also on uphill intervals. I am again very happy with the versatility of this shoe, the lightness and the running feeling. I have never experienced frictions or problem after any of those sessions, even on wet conditions. The grip is also great on gravel/asphalt, which is pretty common to have in Tromsø in spring. The upper/midfoot feels wider than the previous versions, something that I did not like at first glance, but after running a few sessions I got quickly used to. The foot never slide in the shoe, it gets only more space.

The dinasty of the DS Trainer continues, improving constantly with new technology, more comfort, but still keeping the lightness and the running feeling which is in the blood of this model.
It is a shoe suitable for many different sessions and adapt well to different conditions.
It is natural to use the shoe for interval training or races, but experienced runner will find it perfect and enjoyable also for longer run.
Asics did a step back to grab the best features of the DS Trainer 23 and 24, adding the new technology to move faster forward. Enjoy!
