The standard (medium) width for women is B, while the standard width for men is D. Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

When is additional width needed?
Visible stretching or bulging on the outsides of forefoot materials is a good indicator that additional width may be needed. These sizes are available in many of our Running and Training shoes. In some cases, men can wear women’s styles to achieve a narrow fit and women can wear men’s to get a wide. If this is needed, please use the references above to determine comparable size lengths. Please note that the differences of width between narrow, standard, wide, and extra wide are usually only a couple millimeters and are proportional to the size of the shoe. Most additional width will be found in the forefoot.

Product Details

The GEL-NIMBUS™ 23 (Wide) running shoe continues to offer excellent comfort and long-run impact absorption. Its improved stability provides a more balanced stride that's followed by smoother transitions. Designed for those who require more room in their footwear, the width in this model is wider for a more accommodating fit.

Constructed with comfort and breathability in mind, the upper features a softer engineered mesh design for long runs. Engineered eyelet shaping helps the upper move more naturally with the foot, while a stretchy midfoot panel appropriately hugs the foot to generate better flexibility.

Providing the runner with excellent shock absorption and softness, the GEL-NIMBUS™ 23 delivers more compression in the heel thanks to its softer GEL™ technology cushioning unit and contoured design lines. Also, a gender-specific TRUSSTIC™ device provides an articulated amount of support in the right direction for men and women to help generate a smooth transition.

Under the toe, the inclusion of gender-specific pillars help cushion the body and help runners experience a softer feel. Simultaneously, the ORTHOLITE™ X-60 sockliner equips runners with a forgiving, yet responsive stride.

The components of the GEL-NIMBUS™ 23 (Wide) shoe help increase the softness without forgoing the integrity of the shoe's ride. Our 23rd version of the GEL-NIMBUS™ continues to make advancements within the lineage by offering improved support and comfort for distance runners.

pronation

Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The GEL-NIMBUS 23 (2E WIDE) is made for Underpronation, and Neutral.

Underpronation

Foot Type

High arches

PUSH OFF

The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.

HOW YOUR FOOT CONTACTS THE GROUND

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

Neutral

Foot Type

Normal size arches

PUSH OFF

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.

HOW YOUR FOOT CONTACTS THE GROUND

The foot lands on the outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.

Product Features

Ahar Outsole

Acronym for ASICS High Abrasion Rubber. ASICS High Abrasion Rubber is used in heavy wear areas to extend the life of the shoe.

Engineered Mesh

A technical mesh material that stretches in multiple directions, creating a glove, snug like fit that provides a unique balance of comfort and fit.

Flytefoam Propel

Combining a lightweight foam formulation with a high-energy return elastomer for increased bounce and unrivaled toe-off to give you a better performance out of every stride.

Flytefoam Technology

Our lightest midsole ever. Its organic fibres bounce back into its original shape in the space of each stride to provide perfect cushioning from the start of your run to the finish.

Gel - Rearfoot And Forefoot

Attenuates shock during impact and toe-off phases, and allows movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle.

Ortholite Sockliner

This premium sockliner features higher rebound properties while providing excellent moisture management and a high-level of breathability

Reinforced Stitched Toe Cap

The outsole is stitched directly to the upper for exceptional durability.

Gender Specific Trusstic

Specifically designed trusstic system to cater to the differences in male and female biomechanics

3D Space Construction

This technology is implemented through a series of strategically planted pillars within the midsole, allowing runners to experience more compression in a specific area without reducing durability or stability. These pillar formations are tuned differently in the men's and women's models to address each gender's biomechanical data

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lin101 from Great shoes, but need different colour laces… [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great fit, and very comfortable, but putting BLACK laces in BLACK shoes is not helpful when trying to fasten them up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Peaf from A Quality Running Brand [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My previous brand of choice seemed to be only producing fashion shoes which led to an injury. ASICS have stepped in and saved the day. Really happy with them so far and wonder what my times might have been like had I made the change a while ago!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anna123457 from The best shoes ever! Especially for a wide foot. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best shoes I ever had - best gift for my partner!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Darryl from ASICS sizing and client service is rubbish! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They are too small and we are trying to return them, but customer service have not come back to us! Can’t even get through on the phone, so right now my confidence in the product is an all time low! These were supposed to be WIDE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Clever tools and advice for fit and shoe last [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent fit, determined by the clever online tool that allowed me to define my previous best fitting shoes and size from different manufacturer. Worked perfectly and is an intuitively sensible means to do this. Great idea. Shoes also perfect for my neutral pronation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jchuna from Stitching came apart after a couple of runs I'm not a runner by any means, all my cardio normally happens at the gym. I bought these so I could help my daughter train for an interschool cross country event. We ran the track twice while I wore my brand new ASICS, and low and behold the stitching came off along the upper part of the show between the tongue and laces. Either they were still not wide enough for my broad feet (which I measured before purchase) or the quality is lacking. They are now my gardening shoes and I'm back to wearing my Merrell vapor gloves which haven't skipped a beat for 2 and half years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Brom from not wide, toe box too small I am a repeat buyer of Nibus shoes, going back to ~nimbus 16. I have consistently worn a size 8.5, wide (2E) for the last decade with no issues, including getting remeasurement recently confirming this size. I tried out a pair and the felt very familar and I was looking forward to hitting the road. Unfortunately within the first 5km of running I was getting numb toes and my toes were hitting the frount of the shoes. I relaced the shoes using different patterns, but have found no improvement what so ever. Considering these shoes are premium range, I really expected a lot more. What is most dissappionting is that Asics returns policy wont allow me to exchange them as they have been worn. A waste of a lot of money for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mrcjug from Great Third pair of Asics Ive bought. But these ones have been the best. Had a few knee problems that completely disappeared by switching to these.
