Designed For Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
Energy savings are an important component for trail runners traversing across long distances, which is why we applied GUIDESOLE™ technology to the TRABUCO MAX™ trail shoe. This trail running shoe provides improved cushioning and traction while allowing runners to cover more terrain with less effort. GUIDESOLE™ technology is a sole construction that consists of a responsive toe spring that's scientifically proven to save energy over the long run. Thanks to the reduced load placed on the limbs from foot-strike to toe-off, this technology gives trail runners more potential to run further since they'll use less energy to cover the same distance. Traction is a necessary component for running off-road, which is why we have incorporated ASICSGRIP™ technology in the outsole. This rubber compound is functional for providing traction, especially amongst wet and slippery conditions. Incorporated into the ASICSGRIP™ outsole, we applied an uphill and downhill lug pattern for improved agility when navigating varying topography. We also wanted to provide advanced comfort and cushioning for runners that are out on the trail for hours at a time. Adding 28mm of FLYTEFOAM® technology under the heel and 23mm under the forefoot, this shoe provides excellent cushioning. Because of the high stack height, stones and roots will be better absorbed by the midsole. The combination of a smooth forward rolling motion, improved cushioning, and better traction makes the TRABUCO MAX™ shoe a great training partner for a variety of trail running workouts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cord-lock lacking and oversized tongue are issues In my opinion this would be a great trail-running shoe if they used the same lace and tongue system as they have on the Gel Trabuco 10. The Trabuco Max has substantially more cushion than the Gel Trabuco 10. However, I returned the T-Max w/o running in them as I could tell the cord-lock lacing system did not provide sufficient lock down for my trail running. I do recommend the Gel Trabuco 10.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst shoe I have owned since the 80s Worst shoe I have owned since the 80s. The rear heal collapsed inward right out of the box. Additionally, ASICS customer service has been awful. I notified ASICS customer service within the first couple weeks of wearing them. ASICS seems to be all about setting up roadblocks for returns rather than actually providing a solution to its customers. They keep asking for photographs of the shoes at different angles - this has been going on for over three weeks. They don’t stand behind their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking for a second pair in black. I've used these for almost 2 months while walking/running on mixed trails about 5 miles a day, and so far I'm happy. I've had no problems with the lacing system, but perhaps that's because I haven't needed to put any strain on them at all -- these shoes sort of just fit me without them, and tying them is mainly just for getting the laces out of the way. I'm glad I listened to another reviewer who indicated that this model runs a bit smaller than other Asics shoes. I recommend buying a half size up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Shoelaces Shoelace broke after first use. The shoelace tongue combo is complete garbage. I need new shoelaces already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over 500+ miles through the desert on the PCT Over 500 miles through the desert on the Pacific Crest Trail. These shoes were perfect for the desert. The top mesh was breathable but not so much to let a lot of sand and dirt into the shoe. The MAX cushioning was very comfortable on the rocky trail portions. The speed lacing worked great and tucked nicely into the tongue up under my gaiters and stayed snug all day. One issue I had was after around mile 100 the toe cap folded in and would not pop back up but it did not cause any toe issues since I had sized up my shoe size. After mile 450 I compared my Asics shoe condition (tread life and over all condition of the top of the shoe) to the large amounts of Hoka's and Altra's. My Asics still had about 50% of their tread life left while the other brands were around 25% or less tread life left. Over 700 miles in the Asics Trabuco Max and not one blister on my feet. This shoe was the dark horse on the PCT. I will continue to rely on Asics throughout my hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding in all aspects! Preface: USAF/US Army DAV, multiple spine injuries & related ortho problems, work as a civilian FNP-C with a high % of veteran patients. Shoe size/support: 11.5US/neutral. I've worn and prescribed Brooks running shoes for over 10 years and while I occasionally try different shoes, I always came back to Brooks. The Asics Trabuco Max was my most recent venture and after 260hrs in them, I can say they are the single most comfortable swiss army knife shoe I've worn to date. From heavy clinic duty/hours to FIT interval sprint training on uneven ground, the Trabuco Max has consistently performed above all expectations. Fit, true to size. Comfort, all day, even with a 30lb load over 8 hours. Heel-to-toe: slight drop, which I prefer and have found easier on my back. Grip - wet, dry, light sand, rock/gravel are all exceptional. I'm purchasing a 2nd pair and will rotate the original pair to yard/property shoes at the 12-week mark.
