Designed For Neutral Overpronation

neutralPronation

Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
overPronation

Overpronation

  • Foot Type

    Low arches or flat feet
  • Push Off

Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
  • Considered Injuries

Shin splints, plantar fasciitis, bunions, heel spurs.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.
The GEL-TRABUCO™ 9 shoe has been re-engineered from top to bottom to assert itself as an all-around trail pioneer. Rugged and comfortable are the two terms that best describe this trail running shoe. It's for the off-road runner seeking excellent durability, protection, and grip. After reimagining the shoe’s upper, this version weighs in at approximately one ounce (30gm) less than its predecessor. The advanced comfort comes from the FLYTEFOAM® midsole material that's coupled with GEL® technology cushioning in the heel. Equipped with a DUOMAX® support system that creates a more stable ride, this placement of foam on the medial side of the midsole offers a firmer density that keeps the foot from rotating inward too much (overpronation). The lugged outsole pattern features ASICSGRIP™ rubber while incorporating an uphill and downhill lug pattern on the lateral and medial side of the shoe to improve traction on slippery terrain. Additionally, a rock protection plate helps the outsole stay flexible and shield the foot from abrupt terrain or trail debris. The GEL-TRABUCO™ 9 shoe is designed to help you fly through the trails with advanced traction both uphill and downhill, while the responsive midsole foam creates better propulsion throughout your off-road recon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Size was too tight/Small 9.5 U.S. is my size and sometimes is a little big, 9.5 in these shoes fit like a 8.5, way too tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get it, you won’t regret it. You can feel the improvement over gen. 8. Seriously my all time favorite shoe that also replaced my bulky hiking boots.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could Be Better I am a fan of Asics. They have great running shoes. I also use them for training. I was interested in buying a new pair of trial running shoes because my old pair from Solomon (a company I used to buy for all of my trail running shoes) stopped making the models that I liked. When I bought Gel-Trabuco 9 I was impressed at first sight with the colors and how comfortable it is. I'm attending college in Reno and the trails in Reno are rugged. Lots of rocks big, small, and sharp pointing out the ground. I was nervous at first how would the shoe react to the rugged-trails. The first trail run was a success. No problems, shoes did their job. However, the second trail was when I started to notice problems. That was the foam on the bottom of the shoe. The foam started to deteriorate. When it comes to running on rugged trials it's all about protecting the feet. Protecting the feet is crucial for running on rugged trails. The foam doesn't do the job to protect the feet. If I was running on smooth, well-groomed trails they would work with little to no problems. I would prefer to see a rubber made soul. Rubber is more stronger then foam when it comes to rugged-trails. Overall, it's not a bad shoe nor a good shoe. It needs improvements on the soul. Colors and texture is great. Provides good protection on top of the foot. I'm glad that the laces are shorter then my other pair of Asics shoes. Having shorter laces means less chance of tripping on them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiking I would change the laces to round instead of flat. Other than that had been the perfect shoe for some really rough terrain hiking

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Trabuco 9 Fits Well The Trabuco 9 is much better than the Kayano 27 because the Kayano is too tight in the toe. They are made in different countries and this may explain the difference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Asics Gel-Trabuco 9 Review A good trail shoe in many respects. The cons: short laces if every eyelet is used, getting equal tension across the the shoe is difficult with the lacing system, and there can be a lot of foot movement inside the shoe on steep, muddy downhills (though it was common for other manufacturers' shoes on the course.) The pros: much better drainage than the predecessor, stronger upper materials, excellent rock protection and grip, excellent uphill grip and stability, and, once the lacing sweet spot is found, good comfort. This review comes after multiple gravel and dirt trail runs, and 40 miles of continuous running during an event with mud, rain, creek crossings, steep and technical hills both up and down, and multiple sock changes. Not as supportive for the overpronator as the 8, but a shoe I can recommend.
