Disappointing
Disappointing. I've bought Asics running shoes for years and years and this was my first entry into 'walking' shoes. This Gel-Contend walking shoe lacks any style, compared to the Asics running range. I accept that I opted for the colour black, but these look like two lumps of molten lead! Yes, they're cheaper than what I'm used to paying for running shoes, and I'd forgive that if they were a good fit. However, I bought the correct size US13 (which is my Asics size for running shoes), but these Gel-Contend's are uncomfortably tight, which the running shoes never were. It will take so long to bed them into my feet, that I can see myself changing back to running shoes for walking. I won't be going back to Asics for walking shoes!

Walking Shoe
Most uncomfortable shoe I have worn for years. The heal / shoulder is to firm, the shoe rubs against the back of the ankle with excessive friction resulting in the removal of skin and causing open sores. Very disappointed with this shoe

A bit tight on the feet, particularly the toes. It needs more flexibility to reduce the sense of stiffness when walking.

Gel-Contend SL
This pair of running shoes are comfortable. Typical of ASICS shoes, they are well designed for fast running (speed work) as well as the fact you can comfortably complete a long run in them. I carry out a 26mile run in these shoes each Sunday without any issues. The perfect shoe for continuous effort and training.

Why did I leave it so long?
First pair of ASICS I have purchased for many years and now I wonder why I left it so long. They are just so comfortable but do not look too bulky or large. They give great support and from the get go, did not cause any discomfort.

Comfortable and classy
These are sturdy and comfortable and look very classy. They are very comfy on short walks and now I’m looking forward to doing some serious walking in them in the new year.
