The newest members of ASICS FrontRunner have been announced, and are being welcomed to their teams around the world. Adding to the strong Middle East presence is a team of four leading athletes from Saudi Arabia, who form the inaugural cohort in the Kingdom. With triathlon, trail running, endurance and road running amongst their specialisms, they will be leading the ASICS mission in Saudi Arabia to encourage people to move for a 'Sound Mind in a Sound Body' - a mantra that is at the heart of ASICS.
Dina Al Tayeb
Dina Al Tayeb is from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She is the mother of 3 young adults. “By profession, I’m a dentist specializing in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. I am a co-founder of Dentalia Clinics and currently active in my practice. While at work, part of my mission is to motivate fellow dentists to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle,” says Dina. Dina has long had a passion for triathlons and has competed at a highest levels. She is the 1st Saudi national to complete in a Ironman race in 2005 and the 1st Arab female and Saudi national to qualify and compete at the Ironman Championship in Kona, Hawaii 2018 with a return to Kona in 2019 also. “I love the energy that races bring, especially crossing the finish line. I am a Triathlon coach and a founding board member of the Saudi Triathlon federation. I am passionate about giving back to my community and helping young athletes carve their way into racing and performance. I believe in a balanced lifestyle.”
Mahmoud Al Saudi
“I’m Syrian born and live in Jeddah,” says Mahmoud, who works as a product and procurement manager of home appliances and electronics products. “I love traveling, that is also part of my job, and I started to look after my health seriously since early 2017 after I lost my father -- that was my turning point.” While Covid put a pause on his running activities, Mahmoud kept active at home and is now happily back to running, cycling, swimming, yoga and workouts. “But the first passion for my mind and body is always running,” he adds.
Khaled Al Sarrah
“Running is the quickest endorphin hit I can get. I like to do it really early in the morning before everyone gets up. It gives me a clear head and sort of resets the clock. It’s like, ‘OK, I got that out of the way. Now I can deal with people!” Khaled is an athlete from Riyadh, and works as a manager with one of the biggest ICT companies in the region. He has been a runner for more than 30 years. “Running helped me to achieve a work-life balance that contributes positively to my health and to enjoy every moment in my day. I participated in multi running races locally and globally. Through hard work, dedication, and focusing on the goal, I accomplished a number of achievements that motivate me to do more and break new records.”
“From beautiful, sunny South Africa, I am an international tax consultant and dad of 4, who has been living, working and running in awesome Saudi Arabia for nearly 20 years,” says our new FrontRunner, who is an avid member of the running scene in KSA.” I am passionate about running for the peace it brings me, as well as the opportunity to see the world. Running takes you on a journey of self-discovery and each run is a way to inspire and motivate.”Suleman is a Comrades Marathons veteran and has many international marathons under his impressive belt. “I hope to run in as many different cities as possible across the globe and I am always looking for interesting challenges, I ‘aspire to inspire with an attitude of gratitude.’”
