She was the first American in 10 years to win the US Open junior tournament without losing a set in 2008 and reached her first WTA final at Stanford in 2012. Self-described as “a total California girl,” she spends most her days off at the beach or learning to play her first song on the guitar.

How did you got started in tennis?
I started playing tennis because my older brother Beau played and I was determined to be the annoying little sister that did everything with her older brother and beat him at it! He still thinks he can beat me btw.

What does a typical training day look like?
6am I wake up (ouch) 8am fitness mostly consists of movement and footwork 11am first tennis practice. This practice we like to do more drilling working on patterns or a specific shot 12:45 lunch and a quick nap! I love to sleep 2:15 fitness this gym work is mostly weights and at the end some really tough cardo 3:30 2nd tennis practice. I either play a match or implement the patterns that we work on in the morning into point play. 5:00 veg out 7:00 dinner!! :)) 9:00 bedtime I am usually to tired to stay awake.

What keeps you passionate about your sport?
I have always been a really competitive person. So whenever I am able to compete and play matches against all these girls from all over the world is what keeps me passionate.

What continues to drive you forward?
The thrill of being better and achieving my best self what ever that might be!

Hangout at the beach, ride the waves, play with my dog, go see a movie, paint balling, play basketball, hangout with my family

Favorite food?
My kind of language! If I would have to pick my ultimate meal it would be. Steak with baked potato and asparagus with a Shirley Temple and a chocolate lava cake!!

Favorite Sports Team(s)?
Chargers and Knicks

Off days?
On a day off you will see me at the beach. Going for a hike. Racing go carts. Maybe going to have a paint ball game.

How you went from amateur to pro?
I decided when I was 16 that I didn't want to go to college and play tennis I wanted to achieve my goal and become number one in the world. I ended up wining junior usopen becoming the first American in 10 years to do so that year. So for me that helped me make my decision as well.
