The standard (medium) width for women is B, while the standard width for men is D. Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

When is additional width needed?
Visible stretching or bulging on the outsides of forefoot materials is a good indicator that additional width may be needed. These sizes are available in many of our Running and Training shoes. In some cases, men can wear women’s styles to achieve a narrow fit and women can wear men’s to get a wide. If this is needed, please use the references above to determine comparable size lengths. Please note that the differences of width between narrow, standard, wide, and extra wide are usually only a couple millimeters and are proportional to the size of the shoe. Most additional width will be found in the forefoot.

Pronation

Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. ASICS GEL-Cumulus 20 is made for under, neutral.

Underpronation (Supination)
How Your Foot Contacts the Ground
The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.
Push Off
The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.
Considered Injuries
Plantar fasciitis, Shin splints, Ankle strain.
Foot Type
High arches
Neutral
How Your Foot Contacts the Ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
Foot Type
Normal size arches

Product Features

I.G.S® (Impact Guidance System) Technology

ASICS design philosophy that employs linked componentry to enhance the foot's natural gait from heel strike to toe-off.

FlyteFoam® Propel Technology

ASICS energetic foam formulation that provides supreme bounce thanks to a unique elastomer compound.

FlyteFoam® Midsole Technology

Our FlyteFoam technology provides exceptional bounce back and responsiveness no matter the distance, utilizing organic super fibers to help reduce packing out that traditionally happens with softer, low density foams.

FluidRide® Midsole

ASICS FluidRide® midsole provides the ultimate combination of bounce back and cushioning properties with reduced weight and exceptional durability.

Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL® Technology Cushioning System

Attenuates shock during impact and toe-off phases, and allows movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle.

Guidance Line® Midsole Technology

Vertical flex groove decouples the tooling along the line of progression for enhanced gait efficiency.

Seamless Construction

The use of seamless materials reduces the potential for irritation and friction caused by traditional stitches and seams.

Discrete Eyelets

Independently placed eyelets disperse lace tension, creating a customized fitting environment and enhanced upper comfort.

AHAR® Outsole

Acronym for ASICS High Abrasion Rubber. Placed in critical areas of the outsole for exceptional durability.

SpevaFoam™ 45 Lasting

Employs 45 degree full length SpevaFoam™ 45 lasting material for a soft platform feel and improved comfort.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as durable as previous generations I started walking and jogging with Cumulus 5 years ago. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 200 pounds. Usually the shoes last a year. The Cumulus 20 lasted less than 6 months. I liked the light weight of the shoe but it was not worth the lost of cushion, structural support and durability. Smaller runners will probably not experience these issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improved over Cumulus 19 in some areas I have been wearing Cumulus models since version 12. The one major are of improvement over the 19's is in the ankle area. The 19's had way too much padding in that area and the shoe would rub against my ankle bone. The 20's feel like they have a less cushion though. I am not sure if these will become softer over time so these may not be idea for those who prefer a more pillowy ride (like I do).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right there with the Dynaflyte 3! Like the Dyna's these are very lite weight, foot forming and comfortable as can be! Ironclad/black very cool color! Plan on ordering the black/red color as soon as the Dyna's wear out as they are 4 months older. I am not a runner but walk 6-8 miles per day and these shoes make those walking miles a pure pleasure! Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, smooth, durable Bought full price from an ASICS store here in the Philippines. Long break-in period. Felt like I was running on planks of wood. After about 80km, the foam softened up and the upper conformed to my feet perfectly. Don't be shocked by the forefoot rubber shredding quickly. This only happens for the first 100km or so, as part of the break in phase. The wear slows to a normal rate after the shoes form to your footstrike. Taken these on the road, sidewalk, treadmill, light trail, on a baywalk by the beach, etc. Really light weight and give great protection vs impact and random rocks on the road. Going fast is fine in these as they're very light and the high protection inspires confidence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect shoe for me I’ve had problems with plantar fasciitis and other problems finding good running shoes. The sales associate where I bought the shoes looked at my feet on a software program and recommended the cumulus 20 along with a couple other options based on my foot type. The cumulus 20s were the best fitting of the three and have provided many miles of comfortable, plantar problem-free running. I’ve had them for about 4 months and have put about 5-10 miles on them per week. They are starting to show wear on the bottom and sides of the sole, but holding together well and not losing their good fit or comfort. I cannot go back to that store because I moved since buying the shoes, but I will either find another store that sells them or order more when these wear out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got It Right Got It Right I tried on the v 18 and v19 but resisted purchasing them because they just did not feel right. However, the v20 feels awesome. The toe box is now more accommodating as there appears to be a bit more room up front. The overall comfort is enhanced with the improved mesh. The shoe forms nicely around my foot. The Cumulus is now lighter. The Flytefoam addition brought the Cumulus to the modern day in ASICS. The foam is bouncy and the transition from heel to forefoot has improved. I wonder if the trusstic design change also assists with the heel to toe movement. The amount of cushion is perfect for me, even though I am a larger than average runner. This shoe would be good for those who appreciate cushioning but do not desire the sponginess of the Nimbus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid choice I've been running low to mid distance in these for about a month and they are a good choice. They are a little narrow for my foot and I'd consider getting a wider selection next time around
