Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The GEL-CUMULUS 21 is made for Underpronation and Neutral.

  • Foot Type

    High arches
  • Push Off

The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gel Cummulus I usually buy the women's Asics 9D in a different style, but they were out, so I tried these in the comparable size. I bought them for the arch support noted on this style as i have a very high arch. I am very pleased with the arch support and toe box on these shoes. The heel is a bit wider than the women's shoe so a bit looser than I would like. I have to say i like the arch support better than Brooks. Overall, the support has made a noticeable difference in how my feet feel at the end of the day (nursing).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I've been wearing them for years... I love these shoes; roomy toe-box & comfortable cushion. Each pair seems to last between 300 to 400 miles. I change my shoes every 3 months. I've been wearing them for years. They seemed a little bigger than usual this last time I purchased them. I buy a half size up because my feet swell when I run. I will buy them again. If they continue to run big - I'll just size down the following purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good marathon training shoe Good shoe for high mileage running. I run 2 Marathons a year in this shoe, training 35-45 miles a week. I go through 2 pair a year. The shoe holds up very well, plenty of cushion. A little lighter than the Nimbus, but still good cushioning for a lot of miles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoe for neutral and underpronation This is a very comfortable shoe, and it is very well made. I do recommend that if you know your feet are prone to overpronate and/or know you have a low arch maybe try the Gel-Kayano line or the GT-2000 line. The Gel-Cumulus line is definitely a great, quality all-around shoe for me, but my shins do hurt during and after long runs. Still love the shoes, will keep them, but I will mostly train and use the elliptical in them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoes I live my Asics. Light weight, cushy, comfortable, and cool. I generally hit 10 plus miles a day on my work days and the Asics make that a lot more bearable. Ever since I switched to Asics a few years back that is all I wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, Well-Balanced Running Shoe I don't know that much about running shoes but got this line recommended to me at the fancy shoe store many generations ago. This is my third version. It's a solid running shoe with a medium amount of cushion and tends to be pretty durable. It's not a shoe that makes me want to go preaching in the streets about it but it's a reliable choice.
