GEL-CUMULUS 23 (2E)
We Recommend
Designed For Underpronation Neutral

Underpronation
-
Foot Type
High arches -
Push Off
The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot. -
Considered Injuries
Plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle strain. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

Neutral
-
Foot Type
Normal size arches -
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot. -
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
The GEL-CUMULUS® 23 (Wide) shoe's focus is to provide an even smoother and softer ride while implementing gender tailored technology in the men's and women's models. Continuing to draw inspiration from cumulus clouds, we reimagined this neutral running shoe's upper and midsole formation by applying a more holistic design approach that adapts to the runner's anatomy in motion. Made for those who require more room in their footwear, the width in this model is wider for a more accommodating fit. Wrapping the foot with an even softer feel, the engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibers more open to improve breathability. The upper also works more closely with the midsole's movement, which creates a smoother stride from footstrike to toe-off. Additionally, the shoe's upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. To improve cushioning and flexibility, we added a 3D SPACE CONSTRUCTION™ to the top layer of the midsole. This technology is implemented through a series of strategically planted pillars within the midsole, allowing runners to experience more compression in a specific area without reducing durability or stability. These pillar formations are tuned differently in the men's and women's models to address each gender's biomechanical data. By helping runners appropriately compress the foam during the landing phase of their stride, this shoe promotes a smoother ride and improves shock absorption. Lastly, a softer GEL® technology unit is positioned under the heel to improve cushioning while the FLYTEFOAM® midsole material helps create a smoother and more supportive ride.

Perfect old man shoe
As I’ve gotten older my feet have gotten wider and bonier. The 2E size is perfect fit now. Great shoe in 2E and medium size. Plus it solves my pronation issues.

Change of material?
I’m not a big fan of the material that is used across the top of the toe box. I never had any issues with previous versions of this shoe and have worn it for years, but whatever the material used on the 23 is, it is a lot stiffer in feel than, say the toe box on the Cumulus 22.

2E runs narrow
I ordered this shoe and the Nimbus 23 in the same size (9.5 2E). The Cumulus was not only a smidge shorter it was also narrower. I returned the Cumulus 23.

Shoes stretched out quickly
The shoes stretch out quickly. The old design had a leather strip outlined the toe area that kept the shoes shape. I bought this shoe again because of my wide feet but it doesn’t last long till it looses its shape and have to replace

Best for underpronation and wide ffet
I have two problems: underpronation and wide foot. I never knew about these problems before I started choosing between Asics running shoes. For Asics is the best what I can get, maybe there is something better on the market: more/less expensive, but right know Asics is the choice.

Great shoes!
Great shoes! I have suffered from shin splints for a few years. I tried several methods to get rid of the ailment including trying different shoes but had no success. It wasn’t until after I switched to ASICS that I noticed a change and almost immediately stopped having pain in my shins. Highly recommend there shoes fitting guide on ASICS.com.
