Designed For Neutral Underpronation

neutralPronation

Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
underPronation

Underpronation

  • Foot Type

    High arches
  • Push Off

The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle strain.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

The GEL-CUMULUS® 23 shoe's focus is to provide an even smoother and softer ride while implementing gender tailored technology in the men's and women's models. Continuing to draw inspiration from cumulus clouds, we reimagined this neutral running shoe's upper and midsole formation by applying a more holistic design approach that adapts to the runner's anatomy in motion. Wrapping the foot with an even softer feel, the engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibers more open to improve breathability. The upper also works more closely with the midsole's movement, which creates a smoother stride from footstrike to toe-off. Additionally, the shoe's upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. To improve cushioning and flexibility, we added a 3D SPACE CONSTRUCTION™ to the top layer of the midsole. This technology is implemented through a series of strategically planted pillars within the midsole, allowing runners to experience more compression in a specific area without reducing durability or stability. These pillar formations are tuned differently in the men's and women's models to address each gender's biomechanical data. By helping runners appropriately compress the foam during the landing phase of their stride, this shoe promotes a smoother ride and improves shock absorption. Lastly, a softer GEL® technology unit is positioned under the heel to improve cushioning while the FLYTEFOAM® midsole material helps create a smoother and more supportive ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gel Cumulus 23 I have worn Gel Cumulus since #3 came out. Always a good product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'm sure the shoes were fine, but they didn't fit So, the shoes themselves are probably great! But I wore them for a 30 minute run on crush and run and they were too small. I realized my local "Charm City Run running store would have taken them back, but ASICS would not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gel cumulus 23 I am a RN and have plantar fascitis. Tried " more expensive shoes" and nothing worked. This pair made a huge difference ! I am so happy with this purchase , 100% recommended especially for those in the healthcare field.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but... Nice shoe, fits well, and decent cusioning, but the upper is not substantial and not as supportive as earlier versions. Also, the sole is not as wide as previous versions either. I would appreciate the previous "net" type upper and wider sole. This shoes does not feel like it will be durable with heavy running wear. Seems more like a walking shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from quality control needs to be enhanced first time buying ASICS on line; have bought them for years in stores. they look great but unfortunately the loop on the tongue that holds the laces came off the first time i wore them. if i had bought them in a store i would have taken them back right away. as i bought them on line, i did want to go through the hassle of returning them in the mail. quality control missed the poor stitching on the loop!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Shoe...not my favorite fit I do not like the sock feature on this shoe as it changes the fit. The comfort is still the same and a great shoe but I just prefer the regular tongue on a running shoe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ASIC shoes The tongue on these shoes are so uncomfortable. They have too much material on the tongue so they stay bunched up. I should’ve returned them already. I will never buy them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gel Cumulus run 20-30 mi/wk. bounce around between kayanos, nimbus, cumulus. All are fine and I really don't appreciate much difference between 'em.
