The standard (medium) width for women is B, while the standard width for men is D. Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

When is additional width needed?
Visible stretching or bulging on the outsides of forefoot materials is a good indicator that additional width may be needed. These sizes are available in many of our Running and Training shoes. In some cases, men can wear women’s styles to achieve a narrow fit and women can wear men’s to get a wide. If this is needed, please use the references above to determine comparable size lengths. Please note that the differences of width between narrow, standard, wide, and extra wide are usually only a couple millimeters and are proportional to the size of the shoe. Most additional width will be found in the forefoot.

Pronation

Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. ASICS GEL-DS Trainer 23 is made for neutral, over.

How Your Foot Contacts the Ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
Foot Type
Normal size arches
Overpronation
How Your Foot Contacts the Ground

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor materials quality Though I run only twice a week, and for only four miles each time, and though my Gel-DS Trainers are less than two years old, both shoes have developed holes over the big toe, while the rim of the heel area is also wearing through. All my Asics have developed toe holes sooner or later, but these got there in record time. Also, the laces that came with the shoes are not long enough to properly tie the shoes so as to support the ankle. Finally, pronation control, which used to be THE Asics selling point, has become iffy with recent models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Looking too I’ve just started wearing my new GEL-DS Trainer 23s. Immediately got comments on how good they look. This has never happened before.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed to meet Quality Expectations after 3 Months The GEL-DS Trainer is my 2nd favorite shoe in my closest in terms astetics, styling, sole material, and heel stability. And I love the high-vis yellow color. But it has three FATAL flaws. First is the tongue. The stitching is to low, near the bottom of the laces. This causes the tongue to slide toward the left of each foot. It fails to stay centered, causing poor support. Second, the above the sole material has micro (nano) pours that attract and trap dirt. Third, the shoe tends to lose it ma structural integrity if you wash it even on gentle in cool water (see fatal flaw #2). As a result a result, I’m hard pressed to recommend this shoe. It needs to go back to the lab for improvement. The problems began to become apparent after 1-2 months. I primarily wear the shoe for indoor gym training, treadmill running, and a little bit of outdoor running, and day-to-day running. Note: I Buy 10-12 pairs for athletic shoes a year across all major brands:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoe I bought this shoe for sprinting practice. I had tried another top brand shoe and it wouldn't hold a curve during a 200 meter run. This shoe not only holds the curves but propels you down the track. I love this shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FLYING MACHINE Wore these this am in the fog, wet asphalt and completed a 6.5 mile tempo run without any issues. Major improvement in the upper from the GEL 22-more spacious toe box, and heel doesn't feel clamped like before. Excellent grip and response, with great stability in a lightweight shoe. Great grip on wet asphalt/concrete. This shoe delivers a racing-flat feel and performance, with incredible stability. Will but another pair for sure. GOOD JOB ASICS!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Shoe I bought these for my husband. He has a slight shoe obsession. Asics is all he wears. These were so bright and fun. Super comfy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like the feel of the shoe but the back of the inside heel is a bit to narrow pinched my achilles bursa causing a serious irritation which does not heal. I must wrap it all the to prevent constant irritation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight Light and fast. Would not recommend for long training runs, but to race or fast-paced sessions there is not much better.
