Product Details

Engineered to perform. Featuring a new Adjustable Slit Upper that will wrap and support the foot plus an updated DuoSole® outsole for enhanced traction and flexibility, the GEL-DS Trainer® 23 builds on its predecessor's powerful reputation to deliver a lightweight, speed-focused run each and every time. The FlyteFoam® midsole stimulates bounceback while the Propulsion Trusstic® Technology works with your natural anatomy to propel you forward as you move through your gait cycle.

Pronation

Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The GEL-DS Trainer 23 is made for Neutral and Overpronation.

Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.

Overpronation

  • Foot Type

    Low arches or flat feet
  • Push Off

Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.

  • DuoSole® Outsole
Reduces weight and enhances flexibility while maintaining traction and durability.
  • Adapt Mesh

  • 3M Reflective
  • DuoMax® Support System

Uniquely multi-functional mesh fabrication that provides support and flexibility for a secure and unrestricted fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best running shoe I got this shoe last year for 8th grade track and it did amazing. I got many 5 min miles in this. Now am in high school running XC and it is still doing amazing! I have put well over 400 miles on this shoe now. Everybody who says it is bad just can't run. It is a great shoe and can also hold up on my sprints. Can't wait to run in it more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price and quality Very comfortable with lots of cushions for the heels. Mesh material for the upper and toe box makes it very breathable. As a result the sneaker does not fair well on rainy days because water can soak through the mesh. Color way is subdue but vibrant at the same time. The black color is very deep which enhances the red/white colors on the sneaker. The only thing that I did not like about the design is stripy texture used on both sides of the sneaker. I wish it could have been one smooth piece of material. However, the price and quality still outweighs the cons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good. A few runs done - so far so good. Light-weight and low cut for ample ankle movement. Toe box "looks" small, but is roomy enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug shoe I have a narrow foot, so many running shoes do not fit properly, or require that I extremely tie the front end of shoelaces. These shoes fit snug and comfortable! They are not as cushioned at the GT-2000 but are lighter and make great running shoes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor materials quality Though I run only twice a week, and for only four miles each time, and though my Gel-DS Trainers are less than two years old, both shoes have developed holes over the big toe, while the rim of the heel area is also wearing through. All my Asics have developed toe holes sooner or later, but these got there in record time. Also, the laces that came with the shoes are not long enough to properly tie the shoes so as to support the ankle. Finally, pronation control, which used to be THE Asics selling point, has become iffy with recent models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Looking too I’ve just started wearing my new GEL-DS Trainer 23s. Immediately got comments on how good they look. This has never happened before.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed to meet Quality Expectations after 3 Months The GEL-DS Trainer is my 2nd favorite shoe in my closest in terms astetics, styling, sole material, and heel stability. And I love the high-vis yellow color. But it has three FATAL flaws. First is the tongue. The stitching is to low, near the bottom of the laces. This causes the tongue to slide toward the left of each foot. It fails to stay centered, causing poor support. Second, the above the sole material has micro (nano) pours that attract and trap dirt. Third, the shoe tends to lose it ma structural integrity if you wash it even on gentle in cool water (see fatal flaw #2). As a result a result, I’m hard pressed to recommend this shoe. It needs to go back to the lab for improvement. The problems began to become apparent after 1-2 months. I primarily wear the shoe for indoor gym training, treadmill running, and a little bit of outdoor running, and day-to-day running. Note: I Buy 10-12 pairs for athletic shoes a year across all major brands:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoe I bought this shoe for sprinting practice. I had tried another top brand shoe and it wouldn't hold a curve during a 200 meter run. This shoe not only holds the curves but propels you down the track. I love this shoe.
