Normal size arches -
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot. -
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.

Overpronation

Foot Type
Low arches or flat feet -
Push Off
Big toe and second toe do majority of the work. -
Considered Injuries
Shin splints, plantar fasciitis, bunions, heel spurs. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.
The GEL-KAYANO® 29 shoe creates a stable running experience and a more responsive feel underfoot. Featuring a low-profile external heel counter, this piece comfortably cradles your foot with advanced rearfoot support. We also updated the midsole with FF BLAST™ PLUS cushioning. This helps keep the shoe lightweight while creating a more energized rebound in each step. A LITETRUSS™ stability feature is placed on the midsole’s inside angle. It’s designed to help keep your foot from rolling too far inward during your stride.

Even worse than the 28s :-(
With every recent iteration, the Kayanos get worse and worse. It's so sad. :-( I ran in them for years and LOVED them until about version 25 or 26, and they have gone down hill ever since. I keep trying the new iterations hoping that ASICS will correct their design missteps (pun intended), but alas, they actually just keep making them worse.
Admittedly, I should have known better than to try a new pair on a long run, but nevertheless, I took these out today and they DESTROYED my feet AND my back. In 13 years of distance running, I've never once had back pain while running, nor foot pain like I experienced today -- enough to make me walk/run the last two miles! The pressure points caused by the laces were unbearable. I almost called my husband to come pick me up because I didn't think I would be able to make it home. I must have stopped to tie, untie, creatively lace, etc. a dozen times and just could never get them to fit without causing horrible pressure points and terrible pain across my metatarsals and my arches. The minute I got home and took them off, my feet felt better, but two hours later my back is still aching.
I don't know why ASICS continues to mess with what was such a good thing, but they have utterly ruined these shoes. I'm going to have to officially call it quits on the Kayano.

I wanted to like these. I have been wearing ASICS for over 20 years. They are definitely an improvement over the Kayano 28, but the toe box on these shoes is just too narrow. I went up an entire full size, and still no improvement. Had to return for a different brand. If you have narrow feet and want a highly cushioned shoe with max support, they will likely work great for you!

Order 1/2 size up
Just received these and they are so comfy! However, I will now need to return my usual 8 1/2 and order a 1/2 size up to 9. All my other Asics are 8.5. For some reason the new Gel Kayano is 1/2 size smaller.
