1999's GEL-KAYANO® 5 OG running shoe returns with its original construction. After an initial sketch on paper, designer Toshikazu Kayano was quick to point out that the upper mirrored the human anatomy's bone structuring, organs and muscles. In the era it debuted, this shoe introduced two improvements to the model’s lineage - the teardrop tongue and QUADRA lacing system. Working in unison with each other, these technologies create an improved fit with better midfoot support. The GEL-KAYANO® 5 OG shoe is injected with a GEL® technology cushioning pocket in the heel for greater comfort, while the layered application of componentry has become the foundation that still influences the shoe's design today.
Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The GEL-Kayano 5 OG is made for Neutral.
Normal size arches
There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
