Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
Drawing inspiration from the renowned Shibuya cross-street, the GEL-KINSEI™ OG Modern Tokyo sneaker is also symbolic of the dedicated ASICS spirit that continues to redefine the future of design. Uniting Japanese heritage and craftsmanship with modern mechanical design, this silhouette draws inspiration from a samurai’s armor – shielding the body, while enabling it to move freely. The angled GEL® technology cushioning unit in the heel references the shape of the samurai’s curvaceous katana sword to better attenuate the severity of shock upon heel strike. Presenting TRUSSTIC SYSTEM® technology under the sole’s arch to improve stability, this feature also lessens the shoe’s overall weight. Resurrected with visible evolution and a contemporary design, the GEL-KINSEI™ OG Modern Tokyo sneaker allows you to wear this shoe as a heritage icon that's still technical even by today's standards.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Choose A Different Color This is my sixth pair of this particular shoe. I have them in every color. I find them to be the most comfortable shoe for someone with both arthritis and plantar fasciitis and, believe me, I've tried a lot of shoes. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that they changed the tongue on this one. It is literally sea-through. The tongue is usually padded, but this one is not, making this color less comfortable than the others.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the Kinsei Shoe - BUT.... Love the Kensei shoe in general. Thought I'd try these out. My teenage kids said the colors were "sick", so got approval there. The shoe is comfortable, just like a Kinsei. The problem I have is this particular shoe rides high (in the ankle area) and rubs on my ankles. If there is any kind of running or training, it's uncomfortable. I tried two different sizes, thinking maybe that would solve the issue, but it did not. I'm also wearing insoles, that push my foot higher than normal. Which one would think would alleviate the ankle issue - no. I tried taking the insoles out, putting the original insole in, and it rubbed worse. Also, the forward outer side of the tongue (on the inside of the shoe) if not laying flat, rubs on your outer pinky toe joint. Feels like a rock is in your shoe on the upper part of your foot. Not good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable but.... I like this shoe BUT it's too high on the ankle. I've ordered two thus far in different sizes thinking it was a size issue, but not so. It rubs on my ankle bones. Also the outer tongue material, by toes, rubs on my feet the wrong way. You have to make sure all the material of the tongue by the toes is laying flat or it bunches up.
