The GEL-NIMBUS® 23 TOKYO running shoe continues to offer excellent comfort and long-run impact absorption. Its improved stability provides a more balanced stride that's followed by smoother transitions. This iteration features our SUNRISE RED™ colorway to celebrate the city of Tokyo and the country of Japan. Constructed with comfort and breathability in mind, this shoe features a softer engineered mesh design for long runs. Engineered eyelet shaping helps the upper move more naturally with the foot, while a stretchy midfoot panel appropriately hugs the foot to generate better flexibility. Additionally, the shoe's upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. Providing the runner with excellent shock absorption and softness, the GEL-NIMBUS® 23 delivers more compression in the heel thanks to its softer GEL® technology cushioning unit and contoured design lines. Also, a gender-specific TRUSSTIC™ device provides an articulated amount of support in the right direction for men and women to help generate a smooth transition. Under the toe, the inclusion of gender-specific pillars help cushion the body and help runners experience a softer feel. Simultaneously, the OrthoLite™ X-55 sockliner equips runners with a forgiving, yet responsive stride. The components of the GEL-NIMBUS® 23 TOKYO shoe help increase the softness without forgoing the integrity of the shoe's ride. Our 23rd version of the GEL-NIMBUS® continues to make advancements within the lineage by offering improved support and comfort for distance runners.

  • Considered Injuries

Plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle strain.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoes Very comfortable shoes though they run .5 size small. Getting the 2e in the Nimbus 23 can also help with sizing. They provide excellent support to the feet. Has allowed me to resume both my HIIT as well as 3-5 mile daily hikes. Would definitely recommend this to folks with plantar fasciitis based on my experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ASICS QUALITY IS NOT WHAT IT ONCE WAS In less than a week the sole is coming unglued. I’ve bought Nimbus since the 10s and their quality has suffered to the point I’m now looking for alternatives.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look and feel awesome Comfy. Beautiful. True to size. One side of the tread is already peeing after 10 miles of walking, but it’s only annoying when it catches on something.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased two pairs Great shoe for me. I walk/hike 35-40 miles per week and have a very persistent plantar fasciitis in the right foot. Provides the support I need

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoe with an unfortunate flaw LOVE the Tokyo color! It's brighter (more neon-ish) than the pictures show, and when I'm running the louder and brighter my gear is, the better I feel about my safety. 23 feels more supportive than 22, and the shoe very much cradles my foot in an awesomely comfortable way. This would be a 6-star shoe, except...... the very first thing I do with new running shoes is rip the stock laces out and replace them with Yankz elastic laces (this started with Tris in my younger days, and I've used them ever since). I've been running in Nimbus, and only Nimbus, since v12 and have never had an issue with elastic laces being the least bit uncomfortable until v23. The uneven spacing of the eyelets in semi-pairs causes the laces to basically double up right over the top of my foot. No bueno. Asics - if you're listening, have your biomech Engineers re-evaluate this eyelet layout please.
