one of the best tennis shoes ever
One of the best tennis shoes ever. They are comfortable, responsive, good traction withouut being sticky to the court, the memory foam molds to your foot after a couple wears, making it truly your own, and on top of all that it is a very cool looking shoe. This along with the Gel Res 6 (very similar shoes) are top-shelf tennis shoes! Love ya, Asics! Don't go changing. (That being said, the Gel Res 8 is quite changed, but it is also excellent. I do like the 7 better, but the 8 is 5-Star also and has a couple innovations).

Disappointed!
I have a small foot with bunions that requires a wider toe box. Bingo. The Asics i have purchased for running/walking could not be more perfect! NO SO with the tennis shoes. I have worn them half dozen times thinking they needed to stretch. Very narrow toebox and very painful even when i loosen laces.

Best tennis shoes on the market
The Gel Res 7 is one of my favorite tennis shoe ever made. I also love the Gel Res 8 - I will call it a tie; but I kind of like the 7 more, perhaps because you want what you can't have anymore, and they are now almost all gone. Anyone who leaves a bad review for this shoe is lying and probably working for another shoe company - not to name names but *AHEM*-it starts with an N rhymes with psyche. I like a lot of other shoes, too; I can say that the Gel Res line (I have worn 6 and 7 and 8) are all top of the line along with adidas and nike shoes. One thing that puts Asics over the top is their customer service, which is NOT the same at these other tennis shoe companies, or at the next tier of shoe company. So I am glad to switch completely to Asics. Love the Gel Res line, and I hope they bring back one or two colors of the 7, while also continuing to produce the 8. ... Speaking of technicalities of the shoe: the fit is pretty true; their width is normal, perhaps a litttle narrow. The tongue and lacing system are both *normal* - which is great! Whoever felt like a shoe had to have some revolutionary tongue and/or lacing design in order to get an edge is just trying to push a gimmick. (That being said, the Gel Res 8's do have an *actual* revolutionary lacing design, with the foot hugging two straps on the fore-foot - then again, regular laces have always been able to do that - you simply cinch them down extra tight! ... anyways, they are perfect shoes. Modify them with an insole if you want, but I have never needed to. I guess I am lucky. The collar around the heel has memory foam, by the way, which molds to the heel of your foot, which, more than anything, makes them really feel like they are YOUR shoes. No one else would fit in them as perfectly after you wore them for a few days.

Hurt my feet
I bought these to replace my Gel Challenger 12s. After wearing them four times to play tennis, I order a new pair of 12s. The Resolutions rubbed on the inside of the foot, below the ankle. They really restricted my lateral movements and impacted my play. Very disappointed. I ended up getti g th Challengers from another website for a better deal.

Great on the court
Love these shoes. They did rub on my inner ankle until they were broken in. Like my last Asics, they do run a bit long but overall, I really like them.
