Achieve your speed goals in the men's GEL-SONOMA™ 4 performance trail running shoe by ASICS. With lightweight cushioning to help you move faster, this trail running shoe provides all the support and protection you need to take on even the toughest of outdoor routes. The midsole of the shoe is made from soft, light AMPLIFOAM™ material that's been specially designed to increase flexibility for runners who want to concentrate on their speed. This is complemented by GEL® technology in the rearfoot area, which absorbs shock as your feet hit the ground and adds extra bounce to your stride. We know stability is crucial when you're tackling a trail run, so this shoe features an internal heel counter to help you move in your natural line of motion as well as a no-sew medial reinforcement for added support. As a stability shoe, the GEL-SONOMA™ 4 model is recommended for runners whose feet tend to roll inwards - this is sometimes known as overpronation. We've packed all this technology into a sleek and streamlined shoe that's versatile enough to tackle any outdoor terrain. Try the GEL-SONOMA™ 4 shoe, and you'll soon be on your way to your fastest trail run yet.

Underpronation

  • Foot Type

    High arches
  • Push Off

The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle strain.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
  • AmpliFoam™ Midsole
Engineered to maintain durability at softer densities, providing better flexibility, comfort, and platform adaptability ideal for natural running.
  • Rearfoot GEL® technology cushioning system
Attenuates shock during impact phase and allows for a smooth transition to midstance.
  • Trail Specific Outsole
Reversed lugs provide uphill and downhill traction on all types of terrain.
  • Ortholite® Sockliner
Moisture management (Ortholite is a registered trademark of ATP Manufacturing LLC).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great shoe the shoe fits nice, according to other models, that makes it easy to buy online, specially out of the US (as i am). The only "problem" would be that i was expecting a "harder" toe box for an outdoor shoe, the black piece in the front is soft leather

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sonoma 4 stacks up well vs. the Venture 6 Have previously owned the Gel Venture 6 but reading the reviews it felt as though the Sonoma 4 had more cushioning. Sonoma does indeed feel like it has more cushioning. The shoe size seems to run slightly narrower than Venture 6. Overall, am greatly enjoying the Sonoma 4 and would highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Liked it so much... I liked these a lot, so much so I tried to buy a second pair. I have walked over 300 miles in these and they are starting to show the wear. Unfortunately they are no longer available. So I tried the Gel-Sonoma-5, so far just as good and yes I ordered a second pair!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only for pronators Horrible. Hurt my lower back so bad. I must have missed the part where it said it was for pronators which I am not. I love Asics but these definitely were not my favorite.
