Promoting a lightweight ride, the GT-2000™ 8 running shoe from ASICS is designed to provide appropriate comfort and protection for runners in seeking a performance stability shoe. The GT-2000™ 8 road running shoe features an updated GEL® technology piece and a softer section of foam in the heel for improved comfort and shock absorption. The lightweight FLYTEFOAM® technology midsole offers a soft landing with each stride, so you can experience a more energetic stride. The upper features a lightweight engineered mesh that allows better air circulation to keep your skin feeling dry and refreshed. Thanks to the combination of DYNAMIC DUOMAX® technology and TRUSSTIC SYSTEM® technology in the midfoot, these applications keep your feet stable and supported. When you're looking for a smooth ride, the GT-2000™ 8 road running shoe is the model for you.

Designed For Neutral Overpronation

neutralPronation

Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
overPronation

Overpronation

  • Foot Type

    Low arches or flat feet
  • Push Off

Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
  • Considered Injuries

Shin splints, plantar fasciitis, bunions, heel spurs.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.
  • Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL® Technology Cushioning System
Attenuates shock during impact and toe-off phases, and allows movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle.
  • Trusstic System® technology
Reduces the weight of the sole unit while retaining the structural integrity of the shoe.
  • Dynamic DuoMax™ Support System
This evolution of DuoMax® system enhances stability and support, with reduced weight and increased platform support.
  • AHAR® Outsole
Acronym for ASICS High Abrasion Rubber. Placed in critical areas of the outsole for exceptional durability.
  • Engineered mesh upper improves breathability
  • FLYTEFOAM® Technology
    Provides lightweight cushioning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoes I’m an old man who loves his ASICS. Loved them so much I bought a 2nd pair. Very supportive for pronation and also a tendency to plantar fasciitis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit Of all the GT-2000 versions, they got the toe box size on this one right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my shoes. Had them about a month now and the feel great on my feet. Look nice and are very well ventilated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Painful logo. I have run on GT 2000's for years. It has been my go to distance shoe for 30 - 40 miles per week. This current iteration has a plastic Asics logo on the lateral aspect of the shoe right at the position of the 5th MTP joint. The difference between the flexibility of the mesh and the stiffness of the plastic logo puts direct pressure on this bony foot prominence. I have normal foot anatomy without significant prominence in this area. I have never had an issue with previous versions of this shoe, but after about 30 miles of use (as well as 3 days worth of all day wear to try and break them in), I will be getting rid of these shoes because of this issue. The arch support, cushioning, and support for my over pronation continue to be great, I just can't deal with this design flaw.
