Pronation

Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The GT-3000 5 is made for Overpronation and Severe Overpronation.

Overpronation

  • Foot Type

    Low arches or flat feet
  • Push Off

Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.

Severe Overpronation

  • Foot Type

    Low arches or flat feet
  • Push Off

Big toe and second toe do majority of the work.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Undersized fit I like the shoes, but the size I normally wear, 11US were to small. 11.5 is not available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoes Shoes have amazing support. Would like to see something that keeps the dew out of my socks though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very similar to 3000 4, so I love it I've been looking for a shoe to replace my 3000 4s, which were the best stability shoe I've ever worn, but unfortunately Asics no longer makes them. After trying various other brands/shoes, I finally tried the 3000 5s (not sure why I didn't try them first) and am extremely pleased with them. In my opinion, their fit is similar to the 3000 4s, although perhaps slightly narrower in the very top of the toe box. I have found that in all of the Asics numbered series (1000s through 3000s) I have to size up 1/2 size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 400 miles per pair, on my 3rd pair I run 30 miles/week, year round, mostly on roads but also some trails and some treadmill running. I'm 5'9", 175 pounds which is on the heavier side of long distance runners. With my low arch and over-pronation, I really love the 3000 GT shoe. It fas an excellent fit and road feel in stride. I'm surprised to read the durability issues some have mention as I just don't agree. But I also don't expect a regularly used running shoe to last a year - that's ridiculous. Even if the upper was holding together, the midsole foam on any shoe after that much use has long since broken down and is no longer providing necessary absorption of impact. Once I get 400 miles, I just use them for cutting the lawn or walking the dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could not be happier I use these shoes for running and general exercise and I have found them to be extremely comfortable and fairly durable. I have noticed some wear over the pinkie to similar to some of the other reviews but have not seen a whole yet. But I have had these shoes for close to a year and have played tennis a fair amount in them which is what I attributed the wear to.
