What is the Road Tested program?

When it comes to running and training shoes, finding the right pair is crucial; but sometimes, the first style you buy isn’t the right fit. Whether it’s because of the color, the size, or another personal preference, some customers return their shoes after little to no use. This is where the Road Tested program comes in.  

Instead of letting these gently used shoes be discarded, we place select pairs into the Road Tested program, making them available at a discount for another athlete to enjoy. Each pair is quality-checked, thoroughly cleaned, and placed in new packaging before being offered for sale. It’s a step toward less shoe waste, and a way for you to find your next pair for less.

How does it work?

Shoes that are returned in-store are inspected for eligibility for the Road Tested program. Starting with the soles, ASICS staff carefully check each pair for signs of damage or excessive wear. Only shoes with minimal to no wear on the sole are accepted to ensure that the traction is intact for the next athlete. We also inspect the laces and the upper for discoloration and overall cleanliness.  

After the initial inspection, Road Tested shoes are thoroughly cleaned. They are brushed and disinfected, inside and out, then set out to dry. Once dry, the shoes are marked with a Road Tested sticker in the heel and placed in a brand-new box. Pairs that are sold in-store are marked with a green Road Tested sticker on the outside of the box; on ASICS.com, they will have ROAD TESTED in the product name and be noted with an icon.

While Road Tested shoes are used, our careful selection and inspection process is designed to ensure they meet a high standard of quality. As an athlete, you can expect your Road Tested shoes to be fully cleaned with the fit, traction and cushioning you need to move comfortably for the long haul.
