30 years. 3 decades. The GEL-LYTE™ V sneaker. Time to celebrate.

Look again: From litter to a legacy

Discarded designs and dropped ideas. The upcycled GEL-LYTE™ V sneaker was especially popular in the ‘90s. Three decades later, ASICS remasters the classic into a style that turns heads.

RE:MATERIAL

Drawing inspiration from the original design process that promoted reusing and refreshing old ideas, more than 50% of our new iteration's upper is made of leftover materials.

Born on the cutting room floor

The RE:MATERIAL collection is made with leftover materials such as textiles and synthetic suedes for less waste.

The MONO-SOCK™ construction is inspired by the GEL-LYTE™ ULTRA shoe, which first launched in the early 90’s.

The midsoles in the RE:MATERIAL pack is made from at least 20% recycled materials.

RE:COLLABORATION

30 years ago, the designers of the GEL-LYTE™ V shoe found their inspiration in a pile of discarded ideas. Years later, a deep dive into the archives inspired this version of the shoe.

MODERN PATCHWORK

It's a tribute to the classic bomber jacket. The Okayama denim and mixed nylon fabrics combine to create a contemporary quilted pattern.

SPRING IN JAPAN

The Kamon-inspired floral embroidery, refreshing colourways, nubuck leather and recycled shoelaces honor spring—one of the most beautiful seasons in Japan.

OCHA ZOME

They’re dyed naturally, using leftovers from the matcha tea-making process. The upper is made from different cotton textiles, while the midsole has at least 20% recycled materials.
