The GEL-PURSUE has always been true to the term that Form follows Function. Its shape and appearance are the result of a design that is wholly based around its intended purpose.

It is a workhorse, a servant of the deliberate runner who expects protection from the elements, and above all reliability. To make such a high performing, yet under-the-radar shoe , requires considered design.

A quality heel counter is a pivotal component in shoe function. It needs to conform to the irregular contours of a highly mobile joint. Some of this mobility requires freedom of movement (ankle flexion) and some mobility requires gentle deceleration. There is also the consideration of shear and painful blister avoidance. GEL-PURSUE has 360-degree ankle joint contour thanks to a memorised foam and fabric overlay that resists sweat build-up, blister formation and moulds to individual contour. It is ideal for a Haglund deformity and particularly petite ankle shapes.

The underfoot experience is soft on landing, painless on repeated propulsion on concrete surface thanks to updated Ortholite last, a FLYTEFOAM 2-piece midsole and lateral heel and twist forefoot GEL. The transition from landing to propulsion is one that is balanced and continuous in its cushioning feel. It’s absorbent but not bouncy. It relies on the runner to use required muscles to accelerate his/her weight forward and upward to the next step, whilst doing its job of protecting the land and transition phase.

The underfoot Trusstic is robust and protective, particularly for those who land anterior of the heel on a regular basis.

The upper forefoot design has been improved on last years’ model with the redesign of toe box shape and advancement in fabric overlay. On feedback from consumers, the forefoot last is squarer to improve comfort in the toe region. The upper fabric is an engineered mesh, designed to be responsive to sagittal deformation, yet more durable to lateral stretch.

All this, as well as a 10% reduction in overall weight on last years’ model. The GEL-PURSUE 6 asks the runner to turn up for an honest workout - to use his/her muscles, momentum and tenacity to land and propel forward. It will provide protection, durability and ground feedback. It will not give you distracting luxuries like surplus softness, roll forward propellants or rock-solid support.
