BACKGROUND

How did you start in your sport?
I started with soccer and basketball at a young age and knew I had speed from those sports. I fell in love with running exploring the trails in the large state park across the street from my home as I trained for the 7th grade cross country season. I fell in love with competing winning my first race, a cross country dual meet with the reigning league champion, in a sprint finish.

What keeps you passionate about your sport?
I love challenging myself. I love pushing my body and seeing how far I can take it. I love the process of getting in shape and seeing improvement, of crafting your body into the perfect form and preparing body soul and spirit for a great feat. I also love seeing how collectively the running community can make a positive impact on the world through committing a race to charity.

What made you realize you had made it?
I don't see myself as having made it, I see myself still being very much in process and improving.

Hobbies
I am very passionate about following Jesus, being a good mom, and bringing justice to areas of extreme poverty through The Hall Steps Foundation. Currently we are working in Ethiopia with orphaned and extremely poor children with education, housing, and finding families for orphans. I am also a mom of four daughters, adopted from Ethiopia, who are all involved in sports, so I enjoy coaching them and helping them catch up in school.
