For many runners, the road is where everything begins. That was also true for ASICS FrontRunner Kaho, who had spent years running on asphalt, chasing personal bests and discovering new cities one run at a time. Trail running always looked exciting, but also a little intimidating.
The introduction of the new ASICS BLAZEBLAST changed that.
As her very first trail running shoe, BLAZEBLAST felt surprisingly familiar from the very first run. The soft FF BLAST MAX cushioning reminded her of the comfort of the NOVABLAST series, making the transition from road to trail feel natural rather than overwhelming. At the same time, the shoe offered something completely new: the confidence to explore beyond paved roads. With its ASICSGRIP outsole and trail-specific lugs, BLAZEBLAST provided reliable traction on gravel paths, forest trails and rolling terrain while maintaining the smooth, comfortable ride she already loved.
That confidence was put to the test during Etape Bornholm 2026, a unique five-day stage race around the Danish island of Bornholm. Every day brought different landscapes, from forest paths and gravel roads to gentle climbs and descents. For someone new to trail running, each surface was another opportunity to learn.
Instead of worrying about slipping or unstable footing, Kaho could simply focus on enjoying the experience. The grip kept every step secure, while the cushioning stayed comfortable throughout the consecutive days of racing. Even sections that would once have felt intimidating became enjoyable.
For Kaho, that experience reflected the ASICS philosophy of Sound Mind, Sound Body. Running is not only about pace or finishing times. Sometimes it is about discovering a new environment, stepping outside a comfort zone and finding joy in movement. Trail running offered exactly that. The quiet forests, changing scenery and slower pace encouraged her to be fully present and appreciate each run in a different way.
More importantly, BLAZEBLAST opened a new door.
It was not just a shoe that made trail running easier. It became the reason she started believing that trail races could be part of her own running journey. After completing Etape Bornholm, she is already looking forward to taking on her first dedicated trail race next month with the same pair of shoes.
For runners who have only ever known the road, trying trails can feel like a big step. BLAZEBLAST makes that first step feel much smaller. It combines the comfort road runners already know with the grip and confidence needed for easy trails, making the outdoors feel welcoming rather than intimidating.
