Hi! I’m Delene and I began running for physical fitness, but it’s the mental benefits that have kept me going.
I began running in 2018 when I signed up to Sydney Half Marathon and jumped out of a plane to raise money for the centre that looked after my Dad when he passed away when I was younger. I realised the sense of purpose and motivation running gave me was something else, and I wanted to keep hold of that feeling.
I was then in and out of running until 2023 when I rediscovered my passion. After previously training alone, I found how uplifting the running community was, through parkruns and run clubs around London. I debated starting a little running instagram page for about a year before I took the plunge and I’m so grateful I did!
I’m currently training for my first marathon in Paris this year, with ambitions to run an ultra one day. Running has given me confidence, purpose, and community. If I could inspire just one person to discover the form of movement they enjoy, I’d be over the moon.
