ASICS has become the official supplier and major sponsor of the French
Athletics Federation (FFA) after signing a sponsorship deal that runs until
2016.

The partnership will see ASICS create the national team uniform and competition
kit for athletes and federation members representing France at international
competitions, and will cover all major events such as the upcoming World
Athletic Championships in Moscow 2013 and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio
de Janeiro.

By signing the French Federation, one of Europe’s largest international
teams, ASICS will further cement its position as the true sports performance
brand supporting elite level athletics. The sponsorship is an opportunity
for the brand to showcase its full product portfolio, including its high
performance apparel, to a global audience.

As well as the elite athletes, ASICS will supply kit and apparel to the
promising generation of athletes currently representing France at junior
levels helping them reach their potential and goal of representing France
at the highest levels of athletic competitions. Outside of track and field
competitions, kit will also be supplied to athletes taking part in road
running, cross country and race walking competitions.

ASICS will provide the highest level apparel which benefits from the expertise
gained from research at the company's Institute of Sport Science and provide
specific technologies to improve performance, posture and muscle stimulation.
The new uniform will include compression fabrics to improve blood circulation,
high-tech laser cut ventilation, ergonomic design and recycled materials.
The final collection will be introduced in Spring 2013.

Alistair Cameron, President and CEO of ASICS Europe B.V. said: “ASICS
has a long and proud tradition of partnering with athletes, teams and federations
and we are extremely excited about supplying our cutting edge performance
products to a partner as significant as the French Athletics Federation.
With France showing one of the highest growth rates on the continent, the
partnership between ASICS and the FFA is a chance for us to continue to
build our brand awareness and position in the French market.”

The FFA will join ASICS’ roster of sponsored federations, including the
athletics Federation of Italy, Netherlands, Australia and Japan. In France
ASICS also supports individual ambassadors such as Gaël Monfils (tennis),
Virginie Razzano (tennis), Antoinette Nana Djimou (heptathlon), Christophe
Lemaitre (sprint), the French Trail Team and premier events such as the
Paris Marathon and Montpellier ATP tennis tournament.

The  French athletes (including European 100m Champion, Christophe
Lemaitre, European Heptathlon Champion Antoinette Nana Djimou and racewalker
Yohann Diniz) have recently returned from an introductory visit to ASICS’
global headquarters and its renowned Institute of Sport Science in Kobe,
Japan – which employs over 100 researchers and developers. During the visit
ASICS researchers took the opportunity to undertake extensive lab, foot,
body and muscle testing with the athletes in order to optimize competition
spikes and create the best fitting apparel to meet the individual athlete
requirements.
