Exercise was always a foreign concept for Daan. Until the pandemic hit in 2020. Overworked, overweight and unhappy, Daan saw his already small world get smaller and smaller. Something had to change. And he was the only one who could do it. So Daan started running and skipping rope as a way to get outside and lose some weight. After 6 months, he was 10kg lighter and found a new hobby. Running came and never left. In 2021, when he moved to a new city, he discovered CrossFit, where Daan fell in love with competitive sport. Competition against others, but also against yourself. While CrossFit had stolen his heart, a new love soon came around. The magical world of triathlon. With no experience or knowledge, Daan signed up for a half IRONMAN. Now, a year and a half later, Daan competed in a lot of smaller triathlon races and his half IRONMAN, got multiple marathons to his name, documents his entire journey in the form of videos on Instagram and soon stands at the start line of his first full IRONMAN in Klagenfurt, Austria. Daan loves to find the mental and physical limit in himself and tries to extend that limit with smaller, achievable goals, all leading to an even bigger goal on the horizon. And since he still has not find that limit, he keeps going.
Besides making a lot of training hours himself, Daan also helps other athletes by coaching as a CrossFit coach and hosting a monthly run club where the barrier to entry is so low, that everyone can enjoy the benefits of exercise and fresh air.
