Making a smoothie today? Make sure you include some of these ingredients to help maintain your immune system:

Almond milk
This has become our new favourite base liquid for smoothies. It is usually fortified with various nutrients and vitamins. Check your product and read more here. Better yet, learn to make your own.

Mango
This fruit is high in Vitamins C, A and E, and rich in antioxidants. We like to cut ours into chunks and then freeze those ready for use. Being frozen means they add some liquid (and chill) to the blend.

Orange
The old school Vitamin C filler! It is also known to be an anti-inflammatory and contains folate, potassium, and calcium. Great tasting citrus too that blends well with just about all other fruits and smoothie ingredients.

Turmeric
Turmeric has become something of a superfood trend over the past few years. Believe the hype! It's list of benefits can fill pages, we like to go organic on this one - get it from your health store and read up more about it (and a few other superfoods), here.

Banana
Adds that creamy, sweet, comforting goodness we all need in these uncertain times. Bananas are a natural energy booster and contain potassium, iron and help to regulate blood sugar levels.

Strawberry
Not only do they make for a delicious flavour base to any smoothy, but they are packed with vitamins, fibre and particularly antioxidants. Strawberries are also naturally fat- and cholesterol-free.
