I’m Lauren, a 34 year old runner from the UK and a proud mum to twin girls. I started running at 30 and in just four years it has completely transformed my life. Since then, I’ve completed four marathons, setting a new PB each time, and stepped into ultra running, taking on challenges such as a 100km non-stop ultramarathon and a 110km multi-stage ultra through the Moroccan desert. So far, in every ultra I’ve taken on, I’ve placed within the top 10 female finishers, something I’m incredibly proud of so early in my running journey.
I’m very much a middle-ground runner, spending equal time on the roads and on the trails. Trail running is my ultimate happy place though. It quietens my mind, grounds me, and gives me the mental space I need both as a runner and as a mum.
My biggest motivation is my daughters. I want to show them and every woman reading this that motherhood and age are not limits, but powerful starting points. I’m passionate about breaking the cycle of mum guilt and showing that prioritising yourself and chasing big goals does not take away from being a good parent, it makes you stronger.
Through running, I hope to inspire women to believe in what’s possible, reconnect with themselves, and realise it is never too late to start again.
