June saw several ASICS FrontRunners come together to take on the FT Nikkei UK Ekiden, a unique team relay inspired by one of Japan's most iconic running traditions. Held on 12 June along the scenic Thames Path, the event saw teams of 10 runners cover a combined distance of 112km, passing a traditional tasuki sash between each leg instead of a baton. Unlike a standard relay, every runner plays a vital role, with teamwork and collective effort taking centre stage over individual performance.

Representing the ASICS FrontRunner community, our team embraced everything the Ekiden stands for – camaraderie, resilience and the shared joy of running together. With each runner contributing their own strengths across the varied course, it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the spirit of movement while honouring a tradition that has been at the heart of Japanese running culture for more than a century. Events like the UK Ekiden perfectly reflect the ASICS philosophy of inspiring people to move for positive mental wellbeing, proving that running is even more rewarding when it's shared.
