What got you into running?

I started running because the company I work for had an event which is a relay in Japan. I wanted to be selected to attend that event very much. I tried very hard and failed to be selected for the first time. I tried again for the second time and failed again but I did not give up and finally got selected for the third time trying. And I keep attending running events from then to now.
