What is FlyteFoam™?

FlyteFoam™ is ASICS’ proprietary midsole foam technology, researched, developed, and trademarked by ASICS Institute of Sport Science (ISS) in Japan. First introduced in 2016, FlyteFoam™ revolutionised cushioning by offering a lighter, more responsive ride without compromising durability or support. It was a leap forward from traditional EVA foams and laid the groundwork for more advanced generations of ASICS midsoles.

FlyteFoam™ technology family includes a range of formulations- each designed to cater to specific running needs. From entry-level comfort to elite racing propulsion, every foam is engineered to support ASICS' founding philosophy: Sound Mind, Sound Body.

FF BLAST™

The original FF BLAST™ is a lightweight, responsive foam that delivers a soft underfoot experience with lively rebound. It’s commonly used in versatile daily trainers that balance comfort with performance. Found in: GEL-PULSE™ GT-1000™

FF BLAST™ PLUS

An evolution of the original, FF BLAST™ PLUS is softer and lighter, designed to cushion longer runs with ease. It keeps the bounce, but with added plushness underfoot. Found in: GEL-CUMULUS™ 27 GEL-KAYANO™ 32

FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO

A sustainable alternative using at least 20% bio-based content from renewable sources. It retains the same softness and responsiveness as FF BLAST™ PLUS while reducing environmental impact. Found in: GEL-NIMBUS™ 27 SUPERBLAST™ 2 (layered with FF TURBO™ PLUS)

FF BLAST™ MAX

Built for higher stack trainers, FF BLAST™ MAX offers more cushioning volume for added comfort, while maintaining a responsive feel. Found in: GT-2000™ 14 NOVABLAST™ 5 SONICBLAST™ (base layer)

FF BLAST™ TURBO

FF BLAST™ TURBO This is a high-performance foam created for racing. It’s firmer and significantly more responsive than PLUS, ideal for explosive toe-offs and fast paces. Found in: METASPEED™ SKY METASPEED™ EDGE

FF TURBO™ PLUS

A tuned version of FF TURBO™, this foam maintains high responsiveness but introduces more smoothness and fatigue resistance for longer runs. Found in: SUPERBLAST™ 2 (layered with FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO)

FF TURBO™ SQUARED

The latest innovation, this foam is even lighter and bouncier than FF TURBO™, designed to deliver exceptional energy return and comfort over longer distances. Found in: MEGABLAST™ (full-length) SONICBLAST™ (top layer)
