Elevate Life - Judge Craig Mitchell & Skid Row Running Club | ASICS SG

MAR. 24, 2022
Last month, we introduced ASICS' newest brand campaign 'Live Uplifted.' To recap that announcement, 'Live Uplifted' is the celebration of ordinary individuals creating an impact and uplifting the world through sport.

The campaign reinforces ASICS' commitment to movement and the brand's founding principle of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."

As part of the 'Live Uplifted' campaign we are highlighting a series of diverse and inspiring storytellers from across North America. The first storyteller, Lance Woods & WeRun313, was featured during the month of February. Today, we are excited to share the 'Live Uplifted' story of our next storyteller, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Mitchell.

Running became part of Judge Craig Mitchell's life a little over 25 years ago. Judge Mitchell ran his first race, a relay, at the request of his boss in the District Attorney's Office. Little did he know how impactful running would become in his life and where the journey would take him.

In 2012, Judge Mitchell was introduced to the Midnight Mission in Los Angeles from a young man he had sentenced to prison. That introduction would sprout the foundation for the Skid Row Running Club. Through the club, Judge Mitchell's hopes to encourage members of his community to see running as an outlet for the struggles involved with overcoming alcohol and drug abuse problems. To this day, the Skid Row Running Club is stronger than ever and Judge Mitchell joins the group for weekly runs to continue to advocate for rehabilitation through the sport of running.

Check out the below video which profiles Judge Mitchell's inspiring story and highlights the ways in which the sport of running is impacting the downtown Los Angeles community.
