Embracing Life: Lupita Hernandez & Run For Their Lives | ASICS SG

MAY. 23, 2022
As ASICS continues to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, we are excited to introduce our latest ‘Live Uplifted’ ambassador, retired U.S. Marine Lupita Hernandez.

Lupita is the fourth ambassador we’ve unveiled, following in the footsteps of Lance Woods (WeRun313), Judge Craig Mitchell (Skid Row Run Club) and retired U.S. Marine Major Kim “Rooster” Rossiter (Ainsley’s Angels).

Lupita’s running journey began as a means to combat her struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression following her service in the U.S. military. As someone battling PTSD and depression, Lupita understands the importance of a healthy mind and a healthy body.

In 2018, Lupita’s passion for running would propel her to begin “Run for Their Lives,” an ultra-marathon with a purpose to raise awareness for PTSD and depression among Veterans. Over the course of a 200-mile run, Lupita plants a flag at each mile marker in memory of a lost Veteran.

Earlier this year, in January, Lupita hosted a “Run for Their Lives” race that raised over $3,000 for PTSD awareness.

Be sure to check out the video below which shares Lupita Hernandez’s inspiring story in her own words.

In further celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, ASICS hosted an intimate conversation between Sherman Gillums (Chief Strategy and Impact Officer at the National Alliance on Mental Illness) and ASICS Uplift Ambassadors Lupita Hernandez and Major Kim “Rooster” Rossiter. The powerful conversation took place in mid-May and can be viewed HERE.
