MEET WEN JUN

How long have you been running for & what got you into running?
I started running in 2014 as a leisure runner, I usually go for a jog 3 days a week. That year, I was invited by my uncle to join Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Half Marathon and I managed to complete my first half marathon with a time of 2 hours 3 mins. Since then, I've picked up running as my hobby as I enjoy the competitiveness in races.

What’s your go-to running shoes, and what do you love about them?
In the running arena, a pair of shoes is your only gear to rely on whether it is for speed or distance or even to prevent injury. For long distance running, I usually opt for the GEL-KAYANO as it is breathable, comfy and suitable for a flat footer like me.
For speed work, I go for the DS TRAINER with knit upper which is also very breathable, lightweight and with the Flytefoam midsole technology, it helps reduce the weight off the shoes which is big for me.
For racing, I use TARTHEREDGE, it is light, responsive and with cushioning at the heels.

What is one quote you live by?
Never set limits, just aim high and train for it.
You can't limit yourself when it comes to training, it is always about pushing yourself to the edge to find out how much your body can take. That keeps me going and never to quit

What’s your greatest achievement?
As a runner, my greatest achievement was to clock in at Bentong Half Marathon 2018 with a PB of 1:21:18 and finished as the overall champion. It may not be a big run but it is a kick-start to keep me challenging more runs.
