Design philosophy of the METASPEED™ series

In 2021, ASICS will focus on two different running styles and simultaneously launch two types of running shoes for top athletes: "METASPEED™ SKY" and "METASPEED™ EDGE."

Since then, the ASICS Institute of Sports Science has worked with top athletes to gather feedback, bringing new innovations to existing models while promoting personalisation and creating options for a variety of running styles.

The new METASPEED™ series demonstrates ASICS' commitment to people-centered design, scientific research that supports athletes, and the pursuit of cutting-edge technology.

METASPEED™ RAY

The lightest in the series at just 129g*. For runners who value a bouncy, light running feel. *27.0cm/weight per shoe

METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO

Designed to help stride-type runners extend their stride and reach the finish line in fewer steps.

METASPEED™ EDGE TOKYO

Designed for pitch-type runners to adjust their pitch to extend their stride and reach the finish line in fewer steps.

New midsole material FF LEAP™

Compared to the FF TURBO™ PLUS used in the previous model, it is approximately 15.0% lighter, has approximately 13.7% improved rebound, and has approximately 30.0% improved cushioning.

Improved energy return

「METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO」 and 「METASPEED™ EDGE TOKYO」 have adjusted the thickness of the midsole, material arrangement, and shape of the carbon plate depending on the stride or pitch type.

The combination of FF TURBO™ PLUS and FF LEAP™ provides a lightweight, comfortable fit and excellent energy return when running at top speed.
