Find your speed and maximize your potential with high-performance METASPEEDāā™ racing shoes from ASICS.
What are ASICS METASPEEDāā™ running shoes for?
ASICS METASPEEDāā™ shoes are racing shoes designed to work with your running style. Whether your goal is longer strides or a higher cadence, the technologies and features in ASICS METASPEEDāā™ shoes are designed to support you all the way to the finish line.
Whatās the difference between the ASICS METASPEEDāā™ SKY, EDGE and RAY shoes?
ASICS offers three designs in the ASICS METASPEEDāā™ racing shoe lineup to reinforce your running style. The ASICS METASPEEDāā™ SKY shoe is ideal for stride-style runners who extend the length of their stride to increase speed. The ASICS METASPEEDāā™ EDGE model better fits a cadence-style runner, gaining speed with increased step frequency. The latest addition to the collection, the METASPEEDāā™ RAY shoe, is designed for elite runners, especially forefoot runners, who strive for a fast start and finish.
Hereās a more detailed breakdown of each METASPEEDāā™ model:
- METASPEEDāā™ SKY: The METASPEEDāā™ SKY shoe is designed for runners who lengthen their strides to run faster. A higher and more curved midsole promotes a propulsive toe-off. FF LEAPāā™ cushioning works alongside FF TURBOāā™ PLUS, configured with a full-length carbon plate to give you forward spring for improved efficiency and a longer stride.
- METASPEEDāā™ EDGE: The METASPEEDāā™ EDGE shoe is for runners who gain speed with increased step cadence. A carbon plate placed lower in the midsole supports quicker step turnover as the highly responsive and lightweight FF LEAPāā™ cushioning propels you forward with a higher energy return.
- METASPEEDāā™ RAY: The METASPEEDāā™ RAY shoe is designed for elite runners, particularly forefoot runners, who want to start fast and finish faster. It incorporates super lightweight and bouncy FF LEAPāā™ technology at the midsole to promote powerful energy return in each step. The lightweight carbon plate helps you keep pace through the end of your race.
How do you know if you are a stride or cadence runner?
If youāre a stride runner, youāll notice you carry your hips higher, with your foot striking right under your hips. You may also notice that your torso moves up and down more with each stride. This is because you have a stronger push-off and more time in the air between steps.
Cadence runners tend to take quicker, more compact steps. If youāre a cadence runner, you may tend to carry your hips lower with your foot striking slightly in front of your hips. You also likely conserve energy with less up-and-down movement in your torso.
Knowing whether youāre a stride or cadence runner can help you choose the right METASPEEDāā™ model for your running style and racing goals.
Do ASICS METASPEEDāā™ shoes have a carbon plate?
Yes, a specially engineered ASICS carbon plate is included in the ASICS METASPEEDāā™ lineup. Itās the key to maximizing forward propulsion, storing energy with each step and releasing it in a high-powered rebound.
In the METASPEEDāā™ SKY racing shoe, the carbon plate is placed higher to give stride runners more bounce. In the METASPEEDāā™ EDGE shoe, itās lower and has more of a curve for quicker step turnover and efficient transitions. The new METASPEEDāā™ RAY shoe features a minimal, lighter carbon plate for forefoot runners, giving you forward propulsion so you can maintain your pace from start to finish.
Explore METASPEEDāā™ track shoes with spikes
When you want the aggressive traction of a spike running shoe, consider the METASPEEDāā™ MD, METASPEEDāā™ SP and METASPEEDāā™ LD track shoes. The thicker heel of the METASPEEDāā™ MD shoe gives mid-distance runners reliable stability. For longer strides with less effort, turn to the METASPEEDāā™ SP sprinting shoes. Or glide over the track surface with the pinless carbon construction of the outsole in the ASICS METASPEEDāā™ LD model.
