GEL-CUMULUS 22
We Recommend
Designed For Underpronation Neutral

Underpronation
-
Foot Type
High arches -
Push Off
The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot. -
Considered Injuries
Plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle strain. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

Neutral
-
Foot Type
Normal size arches -
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot. -
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
The GEL-CUMULUS® 22 running shoe is a recommended choice for neutral runners who want a soft and flexible everyday trainer with a great fit. This update features a one-piece mesh upper that's combined with a seamless 3D print construction to improve support and comfort around the foot. The FLYTEFOAM® technology in the midsole is softer than the previous version to promote a pillowy ride. Under the heel where the foot first hits the ground has been redesigned to isolate impact while the new heel design's deeper forefoot flex grooves and softer midsole foam create a smoother ride. Lastly, a hard-wearing AHAR® rubber outsole compound has been placed in key contact areas to help the GEL-CUMULUS® 22 shoe stand up to a ton of miles.

Great purchase
I have bad knees and wear these for work and around the house. They comfortable and very stable for a sneaker.

Love these shoes, they've been my go-to trainers for well over a decade. Day in and out they are great, I usually put 30 to 50 miles a week on them without issue.

Poor shoe - worse customer service
Had an issue with the shoe with only around 20 miles on it. Contacted Asics and got the run around like I called an insurance company and demanded a kidney transplant. They needed 15 different pieces of verified info like the model/price/receipt even though I bought them from Asics and gave them the order number. After all the run around I'm told they don't cover any issues with insoles, which they knew was my issues all along.

Too narrow
The shoe that has worked in the past (GEL-NIMBUS 22) was not available and the asics website recommended the GEL-CUMULUS 22. The CUMULUS seems to be MUCH narrower in the toe-box, which for me makes it not a good substitute. I cannot run very long in these shoes without my lower legs feeling pretty beat up.
The shoe looks well constructed, however, but I must give it a low rating because I cannot really use them as I normally would.
