Product Details

The GEL-CUMULUS® 22 running shoe is a recommended choice for neutral runners who want a soft, flexible everyday trainer with a great fit. This update features a one-piece upper mesh that's combined with a seamless 3D print construction, which balances support and comfort around the foot — giving you an excellent fit right out of the box. The FLYTEFOAM® technology midsole is softer than the previous version to promote a pillowy ride. Under heel where the foot first hits the ground has been redesigned to better isolate impact. This new heel design has deeper forefoot flex grooves and a softer midsole foam to give you a soft ride. A hard-wearing AHAR® rubber outsole compound has been placed in key contact areas to help the GEL-CUMULUS® 22 shoe stand up to a ton of miles.

Pronation

Pronation is part of the natural movement of the human body and refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing. Understanding your pronation type can help you find a comfortable running shoe. The GEL-CUMULUS 22 is made for Underpronation and Neutral.
  • Under
  • Neutral
  • Over

Underpronation

  • Foot Type

    High arches
  • Push Off

The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

Neutral

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.

Product Features

  • FlyteFoam® Midsole Technology
Our FlyteFoam® technology provides exceptional bounce back and responsiveness no matter the distance, utilizing organic super fibers to help reduce packing out that traditionally happens with softer, low density foams.
  • AHAR® Outsole
Acronym for ASICS High Abrasion Rubber. Placed in critical areas of the outsole for exceptional durability.
  • Seamless Construction
The use of seamless materials reduces the potential for irritation and friction caused by traditional stitches and seams.
  • Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL® Technology Cushioning System
Attenuates shock during impact and toe-off phases, and allows movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle.
  • FlyteFoam® Propel Technology
ASICS energetic foam formulation that provides supreme bounce thanks to a unique elastomer compound.
  • Guidance Line® Midsole Technology
Vertical flex groove decouples the tooling along the line of progression for enhanced gait efficiency.
  • Ortholite® X-40 Sockliner
This premium sockliner features higher rebound properties while providing excellent moisture management and a high-level of breathability (Ortholite is a registered trademark of ATP Manufacturing LLC.)
  • AGAR Sponge
ASICS high abrasion resistant (AHAR) rubber on the outsole that is softer and lighter to deliver a plush ride, flexibility and overall comfort.
  • Reflectivity
Special reflective material designed to enhance safety and visibility in low light conditions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought another pair for wife I’ve been running for over 30 years and have always used another particular brand of shoe. Aging brought some normal wear and tear so I thought my increasingly worsening knee problems were age related. I tried these shoes and within the first mile of the run, noticed my knees and ankles were feeling strong. At the end of the run I felt amazing. After a few runs, I bought a pair for my wife. They are comfortable and light.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good cushioning but overall I won't recommend I am a big Advi I'm a big Asics fan, however Asics never disappointed me until now. Even though the features of this new model seem and are glamorous, these are not the perfect pair for my feet. I bought this pair 2 weeks ago and I still have ankle pain. Despite the great quantity of cushion this shoe has, the area around the ankle is poor and not secure (even with the runner's loop). Do research on what type of foot you have, such as whether you need more shock absorber or not and other key features before buying new shoes. And remember the newest model out there doesn't always ensure the best model out there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Toe box is much tighter than earlier models I have worn Gel Cumulus shoes for years. I had been happy with my Gel Cumulus 21s and was surprised that 22s were already out. I have had to adjust the laces several times to widen the toe box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True fit, generous toebox, very comfortable I never buy shoes online without trying them somewhere first, because I am hard to fit and picky! But I needed these (old shoes were discontinued and unavailable) and the current situation prevented me from going to a store. I read many reviews to try to figure out the right brand, model, and size, including pro reviewers as well as regular customers. This design is very good for neutral or slightly supinating (under-pronating) runners, offering good cushioning and just enough support to discourage an off-balance stance. My feet are wide in front, narrow in back. I also like plenty of vertical room in the toebox. The fabric seems sturdy but flexible and stretchy. This shoe provides both width and decent height in front, with a light internal reinforcement that lifts the fabric at the toe. Gel and cushion seem ample in back and adequate in front, not a supersoft ride but not at all jarring. Flexible soles with enough grip to handle different paved and unpaved surfaces made my first excursion very good. I mix walking and running, and it seemed to work for me at both paces. Regarding fit: I wear women's US 8.5M in most sports shoes, 8 in dress shoes. The 8.5M is absolutely the right size for me, with room for socks. I would say it is a true fit, but because of the generous toe area and the flexible fabric, it feels more spacious than narrower-cut shoes of the same size. Because of my thin ankles and narrow heel, I use the last lacing hole to snug it up. Like the reflectivity feature too. I am delighted they are working out so well for me.
